Do I need a lower radiator hose with the spring in it?

I'm filling the truck up tomorrow with Fleet Charge Pre-Charged coolant. Changing out the water pump, and rebuilding the oil cooler. I figured it would be a good time to get new hoses. Reading another thread this evening icanfixall mentioned the possibility of the lower radiator hose sucking...

New Guy needing help! CDR grommet

If you know the dimensions, I would look at mcmaster.com. Or if you have a good rubber and gasket shop around they will likely be able to find one for you, by dimensions or if you just bring them the two parts you need to make a seal between they'll go off that. There has just got to be one...

I drove mine (fairly infrequently) for a year without a working wiper motor.

    Radiator Replacement?

I'm pretty sure most of it is going to drain out on you while you swap the radiators out. 8 gallons total capacity. There's no reason why you couldn't drain into a clean container, though, and refill with the old stuff when done.

You know Your Truck's Old When...

I just got a water pump for mine from International. The parts guy claimed that it is now discontinued, and that I got one of the last 5. So they may be a Ford dealership only item by now.

WTB: Instrument surround plastic and passenger headlight surround

I need the following two items: Plastic piece that surrounds the instrument cluster. It also houses the WTS and WIF lights, as well as the fuel selector switch. I need the fuel selector switch to be included, but don't care about the lights. I need the plastic inserts that cover the...

    windshield wipers quit!

My vote is motor. Its also easy to test. You can buy a new motor, unplug the old one, and plug the new one in just holding it in your hand without turning one bolt. If the new one works, you're done. If not, then you get to have fun figuring out what wire or switch is bad. Return the new...

Time for new glow plugs & other toys

Just a heads up - you need a 3/8 deep well for the GPs. The smallesst most socket sets go in deep well is 7/16. 10mm will work but I prefer 3/8 to minimize chance of rounding off one.

    DMF service limit

You can do a lucky mod on it for about $5.00 and have a SMF. I, Agnem, and a few others have done it with success. I read that 3/4" of free play back and forth is worn out, mine was at 7/8 when I preventatively replaced it (though I thought my clutch might be going and was about to go on a...

    Where to buy ip.

If you can't afford moose, I highly recommend Oregon Fuel Injection. It will set you back $440 + core. Make sure you buy the right pump that matches your core, because some cores are $250 and some are $400, you want to make sure you get your whole core back. I would have preferred to get a...

    Boost line

The stuff HCE posted looks pretty good. I have considered running 3/16" brake line, although I think it would be a pain to run the price is right. Get a loaner flare tool at the auto parts place and you're in business. Better would be teflon hose with braided stainless outside. Way overkill...

    New(to me)truck, now a problem.

Google often finds stuff here on oilburners that the vbulletin search doesn't, because it will search "short" and "common" terms that vbulletin refuses to search for, and it does a better job of searching combinations of words.

    are they the same

I hooked them up in an identical manner. When my GP relay failed, it made a noise like an angry bumble bee was stuck in a jar or something the last few time I started it. Once you hear it making noise when energized, replace immediately because mine made enough smoke that I believe it would...

    are they the same

I was in a pinch one day when my glowplug relay died and I was able to rob a starter relay off a parts truck. That was 2 years and 16000 miles ago and the glowplug relay I bought to replace the starter relay when it died is still in my toolbox. The glowplug relay probably is different and...

    bench to captain chairs

The 40/20/40s are nice, but all the ones I've sat in aren't nearly as springy as a good bench seat. Some do have lumbar support which is nice, and the center fold down console thing and ability to also carry 3 people is really nice. I pulled rear captains chairs out of an 89 Dodge van, and...

    Mystery water coming from exhaust

Water is one of the products of combustion. Could it be that this is completely normal? A cold vehicle often drips out the tailpipe, until it warms up enough and it comes out as steam (and you can't see it). The loose bolts could just be a coincidence, and you happened to notice it bubbling...

Hauled my 1st big load today

Well now that I look at it it does look like I said that. Thats not what I meant though. I'd much prefer a patchwork of body colors than a rusted out scratched dented pickup myself. However I have seen some truly ugly trucks (a couple 1st gen Dodges come to mind) that just run like tops...

Is this the water pump I want

I've about written autozone off too now. I needed some very common brake fittings for a project at school. Autozone had 1 in stock, a package of 1. He said he could order more and they'd be there next day. I said I needed 16 and he said he'd have to call 16 stores around the state, as they...

Hauled my 1st big load today

In that picture it looks like the guyline from the pole is running over the tote and down the side of your bed. Who cares if its all one color. Sometimes the uglier they are, the better they run. And if it runs good I don't care what it looks like. Sounds like yours is a good runner, thats a...

    local C List find

An IDI CC 4x4 5 spd with 3000 miles on a new engine for $3900, no rust - thats a steal. Not sure about the van, it says it comes with a 6 ton wench, so you'd have to deal with her before you could drive it anywhere. Plus off the line it would have to be super slow. Probably has airbags...

Is this the water pump I want

Mind sharing which dealer that was? If it was one close to where you live now I could just go there. The Bowling Green Ford dealer is pretty much worthless, as is our Napa auto parts. I drive to Franklin if I have to get something from Napa.
