    Another charging problem...

It will work. The process of elimination rarely fails. In most cases, the level of illumination, of the test light, will indicate the "quality" of the draw. So, while pulling fuses and relays, if the light is still lit but not as brightly as before ... keep pulling fuses and relays The...

    intermittent rough start and idle

My $.02 is on olives as well ... I'll parlay: The hard line (olives) between the filter and the IP for an additional $.02

    intermittent rough start and idle

The symptoms that you're experiencing make me think "air intrusion". The fact that it clears up quickly points to an area close to the IP. BTW: Nice truck. I daily drive its' doppelganger.

    Another charging problem...

12.7V might not be an issue, for a first gen alternator, at idle. That's the primary reason for the 3g "upgrade". I'd be looking for parasitic draw. Disconnect BOTH negative (-) battery terminals. Use a test light from battery ground (-) to a solid ground (engine, body or earth). If the light...

    Tachometer Troubleshooting

Could this be an issue where the tach. and the sensor require different resistance values? Perhaps a polarity issue?

    Wild horn!

LOL. My first IDI, '85 RC C6, developed a condition where she honked from the first 1/4 turn left all the way to the stop...it's 'a wonder that I didn't get shot before I got parked (I was in Houston). Anyway, clock spring was the culprit.

    Fuel line clogged

I disconnected the fuel line at the first rubber line between the lift pump and the tank ... very low PSI, like 5psi. I also blew the return line, from the back of the engine, through the selector valve. Switch tanks during the process. Again very low psi.

    Clutch issues

The last one that I did, I bought a chinesium bench bleed kit (Amazon I think). It worked well and only took a few minutes.

    Seeking Advice/Reviews: TOB Brands

Understood. Thank you. I do a LOT of city driving…with a trailer. I have zero scientific proof that the plastic sleeve is the problem, it’s just that the all metal TOBs don’t seem to give me the same trouble…I’ve had 3 of these, with plastic sleeves, fail prematurely.

    Seeking Advice/Reviews: TOB Brands

Good Afternoon, I'm currently running the TOB from the LUK kit on my 350. As usual, it's "chirping" at me. I would not have used it, I was in a bind. Anyway, the plan was to order the Timken. Now, it looks like the Timken has a plastic sleeve too! Any advice and / or reviews, regarding the...

    Mystery Starter Wire

What’s a “jumper” to the battery…in your opinion? To me, it looks like the wire that’s supposed to be between the starter and the relay.

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

Have you considered a piece of granite? If there’s a local fabrication shop, it would probably be pretty inexpensive, more durable and just as flat as glass. FYI: The darker colors, of granite, are typically more dense than the lighter colors. I would not recommend using marble.

    Vacuum Pump

In my experience, it’s usually been the diaphragm. I have had, what seemed to be, a bearing failure on the Dorman brand pumps. There are pictures on one of my “vacuum pump” posts. I believe that those failures were largely due to the pumps having been shipped out (and installed) “dry”.

    What would you get?

“Beep Beep!” A roadrunner horn! Brilliant!… I’m still learning toward the vacuum gauge though.

    7.3 IDI excessive oil usage

What’s the robot going to give us?

    What would you get?

I’d consider a vacuum gauge. No vacuum = difficult/no stop.

Oil change without removing oil filter

I knew that I’d seen it on a sticker….somewhere! Thank you. Too bad that I didn’t remember the text correctly…I guess that’s why they put it on a sticker…on the visor.

Oil change without removing oil filter

Yes. I believe that the “severe duty” oci is 3k, otherwise 5k.

Oil change without removing oil filter

I appreciate saving money, that said, I believe that you’re better off with the 5k oil and filter change.
