I've been looking to replace reverse bulbs (also 1156) ... shopping around and still on the fence, due to varying reviews ...
Where'd you get yours?
Thank you sir
Gentlemen,
The latest addition to my remuda (no history but someone has pulled the tranny at least once) is "rattling"
when I release the clutch ... only in reverse. I don't "feel" it in the pedal.
I'm having trouble understanding what could make noise "only in reverse".
Ideas?
Thank you,
Kizer
I feel your pain brother. The only OBS that I own ('93 DRW IDIT) has the worst brakes of my remuda ... can't find a vacuum leak, nothing seems to be plugged-up ... not sure where to go either.
Good luck.
Roger.
Thank you sir.
I'll be headed South, for work, pretty soon. I'll give you "heads up" when I can confirm my schedule. Maybe I can book some of your shop time on my way down / back.
1: I'm experiencing what I believe to be "turbo surge".
Symptom: When I come out of the throttle, at 2700+ rpm, the engine "surges" a couple of times before "evening out".
I've had Bank's Gen 1 turbos, on 6.9 engines, and never experienced this.
Question(s): What's going on (mechanically)...
It isn’t clear, to me, from whom you’re asking the question.
If you’re asking me, I don’t have a GV yet. When I called GV they described the unit that I need for my application. All of that info. is in this thread.
Unicorn indeed! I've been looking for alternates to GV and haven't found much.
I looked up Maximum Overdrive. I'll give them a call next week. I appreciate the lead.
I agree but I'm chasing final drive ratio and I've got a LOT of time behind the wheel of a "bolt action" truck.
Also, I was thinking that with the GV, I might still swap the 3rd member gear set or go to 19.5" wheels with 225/70's ... then the gear splitting would be great.
Update from GV: Per Nick (maybe Mick) both "intermediate" and "main" driveshafts need to be shortened for 2wd ZF (non drive line parking brake) units that they offer.
I'm aware but this solution is not an option. I drive interstate 600 to 1000 miles per week. Running 70 isn't going to cut it.
I like the 3.55 idea ... I tow a 7000-9000# trailer sometimes (not @ 80 MPH) and was concerned with my ability to get/stay rolling with the gear swap.
Thoughts?
Axle code:45. I believe that to be "open" 4.10. Running on 215/85/16's.
To be clear the truck is '93 CC DRW IDIT.
And typical highway speed is 80-85 ... per the instrument panel.
Makes sense ... depending on how it mounts. Since the ZF model is divorced it could go either way. Offset forward of the carrier bearing would = shorten both shafts.
Seriously considering GV for the '93 IDIT.
I can't keep up (shake the idiot drivers) on the interstate ... constantly twisting 2800 - 3000 RPM, and tired of that.
The question ... Has anyone had experience with the install process behind a ZF5?
Do I have to get both drive shafts shortened?
Thank...
Core support is a "must". There was a thread, a while back, where a member cut/welded/fabed. a gasser core and made it work with the necessary radiator ... but if you have a donor truck with the correct core support, it's a bolt on fix.
I chose the engine swap because I'm not a skilled fabricator. I used '08 SD axles ... STILL not finished with the project but I hope to have it complete, less paint, by winter.
Just an idea: Make sure that the "coils" on the resistor aren't being pushed together (touching each other).
If you're not careful, they can get moved around during install. I made this mistake a few weeks ago and my truck (1993 CC DRW IDIT not in signature yet) exhibited the same symptom...
Not sure about OBS trucks, but I have a bullnose with the "cold weather package". No A/C, high output heater and an engine side firewall cover...Gets used like an ATV for 8 months a year!
