Stick to the damn topic when posting

Scott, vote yourself a raise. IMNSHO: You do a great job of moderating. You give everything enough leash to run around, but as you see things going from a little messy to genuinely over the line/personal, you drop the hammer. I can't help but make the comparison between your rules and...

    Odd braking

Pull the check valve out and inspect it to see if it still “checks”. It’s free to do and it might tell you something.

    Hvac help!!

+1 on what chillman said above. If it was me,I’d pull the resistor out of the firewall and inspect it, because it’s free and it’s not that time consuming.

How can I tell if I have a dually rear end

FYI: Sounds like the dually axle is definitely wider. If you trust that a 1995 dually rear axle is the same as the era you are searching for, I'll be happy to measure mine and report back what I get for measurements, but I don't have a SRW to compare to it...

Factory Ford E-Locker in OBS Sterling 10.25

2011 and newer Superduty’s have an option for the electric locker. Here’s a link for somebody putting one in a 10.5, just trying to get a little more insight from the 10.25 crowd. i know there was a short pinion 10.25 early on, but I’m pretty sure that my 1995 should be the long pinion...

ZF5 Single or Dual Mass Flywheel?

I've had both DMF and SMF in my old red and white truck. IMHO, the rollover noise is a small nuisance. Having a DMF come apart can lunch the transmission. Get your truck timed right, and turn up the idle a little bit and the rollover noise will quiet substantially. I would never go back to a...

Factory Ford E-Locker in OBS Sterling 10.25

Any of you guys on here done this yet? I've got the rear tank out of my truck, I want to put a limited slip in it and it sounds like the factory ford Elocker might be the best way to go in a dually. Been a while since I set up a ring and pinion, just wondering if there's anything I need to pay...

    Got rocks?

I really like the Benz powered rig. V8 gasser Mercedes engines really sound good and make great power.

1993 6.9 IDI Compound Turbo ZF5 Manual Bricknose Bronco Build

Looks like I was incorrect, you cannot put the larger 7.3 studs in a 6.9, see link below: https://www.oilburners.net/threads/6-9-head-stud-upgrade-possibility.73834/

1993 6.9 IDI Compound Turbo ZF5 Manual Bricknose Bronco Build

I believe R&D put the larger studs in a 6.9, it's definitely an involved process requiring machining not just drilling and tapping. Perhaps somebody else with the history will chime in.

1993 6.9 IDI Compound Turbo ZF5 Manual Bricknose Bronco Build

This is solid advice. If you are really planning on compound turbos and high boost, and you are going to go through your 6.9, you should have the machine work done to the block to accept the larger studs that the 7.3 came with.

So what did you do with your truck today?

But the 5 gallon bucket has the added advantage of "strengthening your core", especially if you get it "tipsy" reaching out far. You know, a yoga instructor or personal trainer will charge you money for that kinda workout.......

Squeak from front wheel - not spinning freely

+1 on what chillman recommended: go get new caliper pins, they are available and cheap. The squeaking you are hearing and the excess rub on your rotors is most likely due to the caliper pins allowing your calipers to move around too much. The rubber that inside of them gets dry rotted and if...

Stumbled onto this video and its for sale

That truck in the video is in beautiful shape, but 40K for a normally aspirated crew cab dually? If there’s any hill in sight, that truck will struggle to pull anything but a landscaping trailer. By the time you upgrade the fuel system to pull anything you’ll have $45K into it. NFW......

    Unique Modifications

Not to hijack this thread, but where are the best OBS lenses to be found these days? I don’t care about what technology bulbs, but my lenses are pretty cloudy.

    Unique Modifications

I really like a front mounted hitch, but I don't like to lose ground clearance if I can help it. I built this front hitch on my old F250 and hid it behind a flip up license plate bracket. It was also kind of handy if you wanted to put a hitch mounted platform on it to stand on to work in the...

Factory OBS Steel Dually Wheel Identification

After a little more digging, I found a couple more part numbers, edited the original post to make it easier for those who might be looking, but here's where it came from: I was told that the Accuride 28511 is obsolete and is superseded by 29577, and the Accuride 28512 is obsolete and superseded...

    Water methanol injection

Very nice set up to support higher boost levels safely. The high boost Grand National crowd refers to water methanol injection as "free octane": maybe you should call your set up "free cetane" Just wondering: who bent your intercooler piping and what diameter is it? They look very...

Stiff Clutch - Now No Clutch?

Good morning. I had the center section of a single mass flywheel clutch "break away" from the section around it that had the friction material on it. I can't really explain how this happened, but it did make some noise and act funny about a block away from where it finally broke away...

Factory OBS Steel Dually Wheel Identification

I’m hoping the accuride part numbers help others identify what they have. With less than 1/2” of offset between the two, they are not really easily identified. I was initially under the impression that the deeper offsets were only offered in the round hole steel wheels, but the two I have are...

Factory OBS Steel Dually Wheel Identification

Doing a search on this will yield contradictory results on rub between rear tires as well as the rub on the front sway bar. After buying some wheels and doing a little measurement, I believe I can shed a little light on this subject. So it appears that there are two different dually wheels for...

What batteries do you have in your idi?

In an OBS, Group 65s. I bought blems from Interstate. In a bricknose, if you can make the room to run Group 31s, I would do it, and I believe there should be some history on bricknose installation requirements if you do a search. Group 31s are always available (think of all the heavy trucks...

7.3 idi turbo hard to start

You have identified one of your problems. Fix your glow plugs, it's not that hard. Good job letting your starter rest/cool between initial starting attempts, but you should really think about a new starter as well. IDI's need enough speed to start. Remember, it's compression to ignition, and...

    Stalling

Just wondering: what's your idle speed according to your tachometer? Might be something really silly like the throttle stop screw backed off just a bit. It's common to turn up the idle on manual trucks with single mass flywheel conversions to quiet down to gear rollover noise. If it were me...
