    Crewcab Project

Lots of wires on a PSD vs IDI for sure. 7.3 CCLB dually with a 6 speed is a sweet rig, I think it's worth the effort. One thing that I would pay a lot of attention to is any updates/differences between 99-03 that might effect the harness options. If you can identify the correct harness for...

    E fuel pump question

What's the crack pressure on the check valves you installed? You could be making it even harder for the Facet to act as a "puller".

Anybody need the under valve cover injector/glow plug harness for an OBS PSD? (twin plug UVCH)

Here's the parts list: https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/valve-cover-gasket-connector-pigtail-99-03/ https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/under-valve-cover-harness-99-03/ https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/valve-cover-gasket-99-03/ RiffRaff was out of the valve cover gaskets, and I was really hesitant to...

Anybody need the under valve cover injector/glow plug harness for an OBS PSD? (twin plug UVCH)

You’ve got to splice the newer style pigtails into your harness. There’s a good diagram for the wiring, it’s not hard, just a little time consuming as there is some shielding tape on the injector wires you have to reuse, and you’ll want to cut, solder and marine heat shrink all of it so you...

    building a 1997 F350 cclb 7.3L 4x4

I think your recipe sounds pretty good. You could always go with the stock Excursion/99-03 components in regards to injectors & intercooler, that pump should work well with it. Everybody really seems to like the Hydra Chip as you get limitless tunes for one price. I think the toughest part is...

    Issues with starting

Where did your new pump come from and how did you set the timing? What does your tachometer show when cranking? If it not >500 rpms go get a new starter.

    Towing ?

I would concur with almost all above. Get a pyrometer, get it timed correctly, make sure you have a good fuel filter in it, pay attention to the grades and altitude, and don’t be afraid to run it against the governor as you pull the grades. Be prepared to have the skinny pedal at the floor and...

    HELP!!!!!!!!

One other thing you could consider, even if you end up going through the dipstick tube, is having your truck someplace where you have access to compressed air and a welder. Plenty of folks have cut a hold in the pan and welded it back up rather than pulling the engine to remove the pan. You...

    overflow tank

Post a pick of the crack/damage on your current tank. My wife has shown me some stuff that was glued with some of the new hybrid epoxy's that I thought couldn't be glued. New adhesives are pretty remarkable, and worst case: it will just leak :joker: If it was good enough to pull a train, it...

1990 7.3 idi stalling under load

If it was me, I’d change the fuel filter right now and carefully cut open the old one and see if/what it’s full of. On a newer OBS truck the fuel filter light would tell you if your filter is plugging, but I don’t know the brick nose trucks of your vintage very well. You could also think about...

What do you think about this deal?

That's a really good looking truck with a lot of nice custom touches. Somebody definitely cared about that truck to put all those extras and a brand new engine into it. The posting doesn't say whether it's normally aspirated or turbo'd. If it's not boosted I believe you will have a really...

Anybody need the under valve cover injector/glow plug harness for an OBS PSD? (twin plug UVCH)

I upgraded my harness to the Super Duty parts, the front side was pretty cooked but the rear was fine. I'm happy to give this to anybody who needs it as I just hate throwing perfectly good stuff away. Again, I think this is a 1995 to 1997 only part as they changed to single pigtail on the SDs.

    GB Remanufacturing valve cover harneses

I can't say anything about GB, but I recently tried to buy OEM ones but they were backordered, so I purchased a set of Mahle UVCH/gaskets as my past experience with Mahle is they make good stuff. I was really pleased with the parts when they showed up: Made in the USA and copper contacts on...

    Drive train experts...please step inside!

Input shaft or bearing on the trans? Here's another thought: have you checked the big bolt that holds your pinion gear in place? I would take your truck to a trans/driveline place and have them take a look. The guys who know that stuff really can find a bad u joint or driveline related...

    Need help finding part

If you want to pick one up locally, looks like Oreilly's and Napa both stock this one. For what it's worth, I've run both the shock absorber as well as the closed spring version. I think both tensioners are pretty crummy as I had both grenade on my IDI. My theory is the diesel vibration is...

    Body lift.

Look at Performance Accessories. You don't lower the radiator, you just trim the fan shroud on the bottom for fan clearance. The bricknose guys should chime in here, but I know on a 92-97 you have to go 2" and clearance the firewall just a bit. 3" make massive interference between exhaust...

    Remans.

As a general rule, I don't endorse machine shops. As a former machinist I think it's a little unfair, as I expect it to be better than I could do it myself. I'm going to tell you that after seeing a block that Justin at R&D decked on 7.3 IDI block, the finish was incredibly high quality. I've...

2003 7.3 power stroke shuts off after 15 minutes

+1 on what greenskeeper is suggesting. You really need to have Forscan or Autoenginuity plugged in and monitoring when it stops to see what's happening when it shuts off. I will also tell you that I had something very similar happening on my 95 PSD and it turned out to be the ignition switch...
