    Luk or South Bend?

I have the engine out of my truck and I plan on installing a new clutch when it goes back together. I still have the DMF and want to do a solid flywheel conversion. It looks like I have two options, South Bend or Luk. I can get the Luk kit for about half the price of the South Bend. Is there any...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Studs installed :Thumbs Up I was going to drop the heads off at the machine shop over the weekend but found out the place I used to go no longer does machining work so I'll have to find somewhere else this week. I also disassembled the transfer case to reseal it. It's been leaking for years...

    Seat help

I'd just go to a welding shop and get a piece of 1/8" steel about 3" square and drill a hole in the center of it.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Heads removed and cleaned up, plugs removed for the cooling mod. Number 3 injector was completely caked with soot, I could hardly remove it. I assume because the copper washer wasn't sealing. I also discovered the right side exhaust manifold was cracked.

So what did you do with your truck today?

No turning back now. My buddy failed to show up to help lift the hood off so I took the springs off and propped it open as high as it would go. I left the core support in place, reason being is I still have a fully functional R12 ac system but no longer have a R12 recycling machine. I pulled the...

    1991 f250 leveling kit?

You can't do much anything with a TTB as far as raising it without also lowering the pivots, otherwise you'll throw the camber way out of spec. I put Tuff Country 2 1/2" lift kits in a couple of mine before I eventually swapped in Dana 60s. They will lift the front end 2 1/2" and the rear about...

    D 60 swap

86 and newer F250 4x4 trucks already have the holes punched in the engine cross member for the track bar bracket so its a simple bolt in swap. When I swapped a 60 into my 84 F250 4x4 I had to drill two of the three holes for the bracket.

    Unique Modifications

Yep :D I love that winch. I got a hell of a deal on it too...picked it up used for $300 about five years ago. They're selling for around $2,000 new now. It was complete with the mount, fairlead and everything. It was mounted on a square body Chevy so I had to build my own bumper for it. I've...

What batteries do you have in your idi?

Yep, that's what a dealer would charge a customer. Since we sell them where I work I can get them at our cost with no markup but even then they are still pretty expensive. I last checked the price on a group 65 about a year ago and I think at that time they cost the dealer around $110. They have...

What batteries do you have in your idi?

Interstate group 65. They're about five years old so I'll be replacing them soon. I'll probably go with a different brand though. I really like Interstate but they're getting ridiculous in price. We sell them at work so I can get them at cost but even the dealer cost is getting crazy. I think...

Clutch switch issues - how to bypass it?

The two red wires with blue stripes are the crank wires. If you jump them together it will bypass the clutch switch. I bypassed the switch on my 92 with a snap lock splice, joining those two wires without cutting them. I had problems on my 84 a few years ago with an intermittent no crank. I...

    Crazy IDI build ideas

Short answer is no, not without extensive modifications. I don't know why anyone would want to through that much work for so little gain when you can put a P pump on one using parts that already exist.

    I hate TTB axles

I swapped Dana 60s into both of mine. Problem solved.

    What else do you drive?

    Daily driver/work beater is a 1997 Chevy Cavalier. My good car is a 2012 Honda Accord. I also drive a 1992 Ford Ranger and a 1984 F250.

    Brake cables

Brakes and all hardware were replaced less than a year ago. I had the arms apart to replace both adjuster cables and lubricated them at the time. I can try lubricating the cables. They're still the original ones.

    Brake cables

I've noticed the left rear wheel on my 92 F250 has been getting hot lately along with the smell of hot brakes. Today I could feel it dragging while driving through a parking lot so I stopped and reached under the box and pushed in on both cables. The dragging feeling was gone after that and no...

    Slight "rattle" and tire wear

Does the rattle go away when you step on the brakes? I've seen the caliper and steering knuckle surfaces wear enough to cause the calipers to rattle quite loudly, but it disappears instantly when you step on the brakes. Replacing the rubber cored slide pins will stop it temporarily but I've had...

    Clutch time!!

Remove the transfer case and crossmember, then unbolt the transmission from the bell housing and remove it. Once the transmission is out you can remove the bell housing and clutch assembly. When going back together I always put the transmission in gear first. That way you can turn the output...
