Bump Start for Lift Pump Install

Thanks Josh! Yeah that rear bolt was a pain, I could see where a stud would be convenient. I’m going to follow those steps and do some cleaning first then run the dyes and see what I come up with. I see people on here doing cool builds and while i cant afford to do any mods yet I am at least...

Bump Start for Lift Pump Install

I think I was lucky and it was already up. Here’s a picture. Pump arm should just go straight in and be underneath the cam lobe. That arrow is pointing to what I think is the cam lobe. Bottom is just reference for bottom of the hole

Bump Start for Lift Pump Install

Thanks Rock! Any advice on a good angle to get in and see the fuel pump cam? I know the pump arm has to be installed underneath the cam lobe, I’m following the installation instructions on dieselhub.com. He removed the inner fender wall I think but I did not... I imagine that greatly increases...

Bump Start for Lift Pump Install

Look like it was bad? I felt like my oil was thin, didn’t look right and was possibly rising. But then I also started using a different bio synthetic oil. Either way, new one going in!

Bump Start for Lift Pump Install

Hey y’all. So I’m in the shop this morning about to install a new lift pump. I wanted to go E pump but I’ll just have to get back in here and do it at a later date. For now, I have a NAPA mech lift pump and I have a remote starter switch to “bump” the engine so I can get that lift pump arm in...

    Carquest Fuel filter

This is true. As a rookie in the game it’s knowledge like this I try and accumulate. Will definitely have to remember these names. I try and buy motorcraft off eBay but sometimes that’s just a pain. I know there are others out there that are just good. Shoot, possibly even better?

Viton Os, Valve covers and Fuel in Oil

Aye, I see. Well it’s a good thing I have an extra set of the caps. I’m finally starting to build a small supply of these odds and ends that are cheap and easy to replace. Would like to have a couple extra tstats, filters, belts and engine hardware one day. With the way things are going...

Viton Os, Valve covers and Fuel in Oil

Thanks @chillman88 little things like that I’m sure make the difference. And roger that @Farmer Rock I agree and thinks it’s about time to move over. I’m new to diesels but have been troubleshooting and installing things for a couple years now so I feel fairly confident. Thanks for the tips too...

    The building of Beagle Pup.

Ahh I see now! Just my noob 2 cents thrown in. But I get the picture now. This project sounds like a pretty big one, you have a nice shop where you’re doing the work? Hopefully it’s heated, this winter might be a cold one in PA...

Viton Os, Valve covers and Fuel in Oil

Thanks @quickster feels good just hearing another say that system can be a pain. Other than that the truck drives great. Finally got those valve covers in and now I’m not seeing oil on the floor when I leave! :Thumbs Up You installing a turbo?

You mean if anyone’s interested in what breed? Haha looks like a great helper! What’s the doghouse you are mentioning? I missed the last couple posts and I just read your previous about a doghouse. Sounds interesting!

Viton Os, Valve covers and Fuel in Oil

Installed this return line kit without Vitons about a month ago. Already took off the cap and tried to re-seat the o-rings again to see if this leak would stop on these two rear passenger side return caps. Still getting a minor leak... I didn’t have any leaks prior to this return line install...

Those pictures look better on my computer than my little phone ha. But yeah, if I had enough cash to buy it as a second truck then I wouldn't have hesitated one bit. You'll have to keep us posted if he ends up calling you back for the trade

    Coolant Flush Procedure

@RSchanz I am lucky enough to have access to a lot of tools on base. But as Bronco stated you can rent them a lot of times. One day maybe we will all strike at rich and own all that stuff ourselves!

    Coolant Flush Procedure

Run a pressure test on the coolant system. I tested mine the other day after having frightened thoughts about leaks like you have and it’s worth the time and money for the peace of mind. I tested it and had a leak from the upper rad hose. Tightened that down and then ran it a second time and...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Thank you for the support @Selahdoor !! You know, I bought this F250 sight unseen and drove it all the way from Alaska where I was stationed prior. Didn't have any problems with it the whole cross country trek. Seems like now she just needs a little TLC.
