    Cheap way to Intercool?

I would really like an air to liquid intercooler that sat on top of the valley, maybe replaced the intake manifold.

    New age headlights

I contacted the Retrofit outfit, asked about mounting those projectors behind some lexan in a repurposed headlight assembly. I was thinking that might cause reflections, reduce light output, maybe diffuse it. Their reply:

    New age headlights

$500 plus shipping for decent lights isn't terrible, I guess. Good moose lights can easily run that much or more, and as I recall the Aussie option is going to run that much and you still have to buy lights. How well do the HIDs last? All winter long I'd be using them twice a day for about 1/2...

Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

Thanks! I started a conversation, hope that's the right pm channel.

    Alaska red crewcab build thread

I'm painting most of the engine yellow, it's a light color and Napa had yellow engine enamel in stock. Silver BBQ paint for exhaust manifolds and small stuff.

    Alaska red crewcab build thread

I noticed that the lifters have an oil hole on one side, and figured that side needs to go toward the oil gallery. I bolted the oil pump on the bottom, no gasket between the pump and block. I assembled the oil cooler. I put both o rings on one end, lubed them with a smear of dielectric grease...

    Alaska red crewcab build thread

I've started assembling the engine I got back from the machine shop a couple years ago. ARP head studs, new hydraulic lifters.

    Alaska red crewcab build thread

Finally getting back onto this project. I found a complete Sidewinder in my shop, and assembled it on an old engine on a stand in the shop, and got inspired.

Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

L I know it's not really needed when running, bit it's nice not having to worry about dropping stuff in there.

Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

That's the one! Oof, $60 each. If I could figure out how to get the mesh back in the outer ring, I could repair mine.

Do we have a source for the mesh guard on the intake manifold?

A couple of my engines have damaged mesh intake guards. They've gotten caught on the air filter housing as I removed it, and the mesh has started to come out of the outer ring. Do we have a Ford or Navistar part number, or a source besides the junkyard?

What are IDIs REALLY selling for?

I've got a daughter looking to buy a $10k vehicle in the lower 48 and drive it back to Alaska. She's really not mechanical, so it needs to be solid. Whatcha got that could work, and where is it?

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

Now you're getting on track! Just don't use tempera paint.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

He's asking how to do a half-azzed job. I suggest getting some tractor enamel, brushing it on, and calling it good. Use black or a contrasting color to avoid matching. Clean the rust down to bare metal first, of course.

    New Mechanical Lift Pump...

Here's their reply: That sounds a lot like "Hecho en China," but maybe with some quality control?

    New Mechanical Lift Pump...

I used the contact form on the website, asked Pure Diesel Power where that pump is made. If they respond, I'll let y'all know.

    Source for primer pumps?

I would love to have a hand primer pump like on my Mercedes. Anybody got a line on something like that?

Does anyone have a video of installing a Banks Sidewinder?

It all fits! I got it mounted on the engine, and it looks as if it runs around the adapter plate, shouldn't interfere with the transmission at all. I haven't taken the engine off the stand and mated it to a transmission yet, but I think it's going to be OK, as long as the tranny isn't wider than...

    Cheap diesel fuel ok?

Gas is a blend of volatiles, and a spark ignition engine requires gas _be_ volatile, and as they evaporate, they leave behind gum and varnish. When gas gets old, it gets bad. Diesel is oil. It shouldn't have volatiles, There isn't much to evaporate, and your fuel system is sealed anyway. When it...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Take some pics as you go, and post'em up here, please. I suppose if this fits on the truck frame, you could turn the old trailer into a pickup bed trailer, to boot!
