    no brakes

disc brakes master cylinder reservoir was empty, filled and same result....no time to try bleeding tonight. Pumping the brake pedal with the engine OFF builds no pressure. Holding the pedal down and cranking the engine makes the pedal drop and then come back up against my foot. Also pushing...

    no brakes

99 F250 PSD with hydroboost. Brake pedal goes to the floor with no resistance.....brakes work very little at the bottom of the travel (at the floor). No fluid leaks....Master cylinder or ? Power steering works fine whether on the brakes or not.

    Pcm swap???

as long as it has the correct DPC code then no.

    Pcm swap???

As per your other thread, what wires were run to the gem by the previous owner? Maybe it was more than just the 4x4 control? Have you tried removing the gem and seeing if it cranks with only the PCM installed?

    Pcm swap???

did you try car-part.com sometimes there are great prices when the yard doesn't know what they have.

    Pcm swap???

Whatever works for you. PCMS and IDMS are damn reliable on these trucks...they rarely fail unless someone is monkeying with them. I'll give you the CPS failure...it has been a minor issue. I've replace one in each of my trucks....over the course of 466k miles combined. Some trucks eat them more...

    tried seafoam....good stuff

So my 99 has 258k on the original injectors. Lately there has been an injector or two not firing smoothly (very evident when listening to the engine). Gave it a shot of archoil at the last oil change and that cleaned up the oil side. Tried seafoam for the fuel side....almost a full can in the...

    Pcm swap???

Fix until broke strategy? Honestly in 16 years of owning 7.3 PSD I've NEVER heard of a PCM failing out of the blue......UNLESS someone was monkeying with it. IDM's on the super duties do have an occasional issue with water getting inside but the OBS ones are immortal.

Time for a 7.3L oil change....

Look for a sale and buy cheap and stock it deep !

    Pcm swap???

This is correct. The module has to be the same due to wiring differences. So DPC-402 is the only ones that will work in your truck (FYI the last number 2 indicates automatic, a 1 at the end indicates manual transmision). So you've got: FUT GLF HPA XLE to chose from. There are slight...

Time for a 7.3L oil change....

Rotella 5w-40, I do 5k intervals, big fan of archoil additive (especially if you have high miles on your injectors 200k+)

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

PCM could be bad.....or not getting power What is the PCM code on your truck? I'll see if I can find something that will work.

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

GPR has no bearing on the WTS light....WTS is powered by the PCM. Also the relay is grounded by the PCM to energize the glow plugs.

further back on the fender...over the wheel well

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

There is a fusible link behind the drivers battery along the fender....looks like a cube wrapped in tape. Could be faulty from all the moving around of stuff?

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

is there anti-theft installed on the truck? What happens when you disconnect the batteries and reinstall the original PCM and GEM modules?

    OBS powerstroke value

Probably going to sell our 97 F250 4x4 crew cab with 208k miles on it. Located in SEPA. Mechanically flawless, body has expected rust areas for being 22 years old. Could possibly be the last 7.3 put in an OBS because it was built 12/97. New brakes/tires/inspection through 11/2020 Thoughts on...

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

Wow...that stinks after all this is was a bad connection. You could back-track to the fuse controlling the PCM and check for power there.

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

I think there's a fusible link somewhere on the big harness?
  22. greenskeeper

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

Ok so my next step would be to probe the harness at the PCM and see if you've got 12v going to the PCM

4x4 no light and switch doesn't work

maxi fuse powering the PCM tested good?

    7.3 powerstroke oil leak

Yes they continue to heat. A good mod is to wire an LED light from the GP side of the relay into the cab....that way you can see when your GPs are being powered. I've also added a switch inside the cab next the the LED so I can manually disable the glow plugs during "hot" starts or times when...

    Superduty steering stiffer than OBS?

Drove both of my trucks back-to-back for comparison. Same size tires on both. I honestly couldn't tell a difference.
