    Water in intake

@towcat using the breaker bar and a mark on the balancer, I can easily move about an inch (measured on the balancer) and then I back it up, repeat a couple times. I am going to resoak and keep doing this through out the week with the thought being it will move a greater distance each day. How...

    Water in intake

It has never made a complete turn. Sadly in my haste to see if it turned, it do go from about 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock (end of ratchet handle as seen from under the truck) twice before I remembered to drain the oil. After draining the water, is when she had resistance to turn and I oiled her. I...

    Water in intake

Well I pulled 5 Autolites and 3 Berus. Started to bar it over and it was easy. Texted Mike, I was so happy. Went back to make sure it would go through a couple complete cycles.... Lets just say she is very stiff. I got some MM oil and ATF and mixed it. she is soaking now. Any benefit or harm to...

    Water in intake

They are next to the spark plugs. At least that is what the kid at Autozone told me!LOL Got a break in the rain yesterday and pulled two more but then it started raining on me again! I have gotten soft in my old age, not to mention I curse water now, so I called it quits. Very upsetting to find...

    Water in intake

Thanks guys. @laserjock provided a new LMC cowl seal that I just installed so she is water tight. (Thank you Mike!) Depending on the weather in the morning I will pull all 8 and see if she turns over by hand. If not I will follow tow kitty's suggestions. I am really just mad at myself. This has...

    Water in intake

Finally had time to test my gp's and install the new Beru's today. I knew the cowl seal was bad, but I had a grommet under the air cleaner bolt so I have not been too concerned...Well image how sick I felt when I saw this. Yes, that is ice you see in the picture. I used a vacuumed out everything...

I dealt with them back in about '08. No issues. Times change though.

    2017 Oilburners Rally

Life takes many turns and it now appears I am out for the rally. I will wait to say much until the official letter is received but will hint that it involves Doug, a college and a conflict of dates (and a major conflict of allocating cash!)

    Electrical connector ID help...please..

Daytime Running Lights. IRC - Canada required, same harness on both US and Canada trucks. That would be my guess on that plug also. I can look at my truck but it won't be till Sunday. If you are in the area tomorrow you can stop by and look- I just won't be here. Shoot me a text or email and I...

    Advice on installing factory turbo

When I did mine, I cut the pinch weld at about 2" intervals and used a scissor jack on the bell housing to bend them under. Removed the heat shield and cut back the rubber firewall mat (engine side). Contrary to others, my GPC stayed in the factory NA location. I just covered it with some heat...

    01 SD Crew Cab w/ 6 doors

I like hips personally, but that? Nope. The newer squared hips or the wheel cover style might look a lot better.

    Project Big Red

Congrats! I did manage to get the camper top out of the garage and on the pop up Saturday so I have the official green light to start working on the truck. Planned on testing GPs on Sunday but had a change of plans and spent the better part of the day with Nicole at breakfast, Towson Town Mall...

2017 Rally Route / Convoy thread (east coasters)

I have not chimed in yet on this either. I really need to get the details squared away. I know it will only be me and the kids. Erica will be in Alaska on (most likely) the last cruise her dad will be on. (I was supposed to be with them, but the Commonwealth of PA has seen to it I cannot go out...

Best way to get the axle off the ground?

Cribbing to support it and then remove the jack, use cribbing under the jack and keep going up??? Get some 4X4's and hack them up to about 16" in length. About the only thought I have. Not the best idea, but I have done. Used concrete block under a jack before also. I used to use 18" X 18" 3/4"...

    1989 F350 cross-country prep

I know everyone is telling you not to change the trans pan, but IMHO if you are dropping it to change the fluid, get a 4R100 pan (F81Z7A194BA) they run about $40 and have the plug. Direct bolt in. Makes future fluid changes cleaner!

    building a glow plug harness

Look at @laserjock build thread. He is using the six oh harness. If I remember correctly, Shawn in Delaware was the first to go that route.

    Old diesel car

I knew nothing about them also. Bought one from Eric (member) down in SC. Had Apex Trans (old member) haul it from Monroe, NC to Maryland for me. Put two tires, carrier bearing and something else into it to pass PA inspection. Pressure washed all of the carpets (mold) and ran it for about 18...

do you take your IDI on long trips?

Since this one is a RC I do not foresee it going too far, although I drove it back to Maryland from Michigan. My dually was away from home for 3 weeks for vacation when it dropped the valve. I just came back from Sedona, AZ and surrounding areas - Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott, Cottonwood...

    Project - "Old Man"

Thanks Ron. The WTS worked at Darrin's lot when I left. Fortunately, I made it home with an overnight stop, but honestly cannot recall if it was working then or not. With the wedding this Saturday and "out of towners" arriving already, I am not able to play like I want to! With my old truck I...

    Project - "Old Man"

Here are the pics... Project will be very slow for the next 4 months or so. Did discover that either GP or GPC is not working. No clicky or WTS light at all. about 1 hour plugged in and she fired. Not sure who buggered up the trans temp gauge. A welded (or bolted in) bung would have been better...
