    Show us your IP wrench!

Mine is close to that, Craftsman ground to fit. Easier than using the wrench in my Rotunda kit.

    Rotunda 6.9 tool kit

ROTUNDA TKIT-1983-D6.9 is the mechanic's kit that was produced when the 6.9 came out in the 1983 truck. You would use most of these when rebuilding engine. Some are for injector & IP replacement/tuning, fan clutch replacement, etc. These can go as high as $275 for complete set. Mine was $75...

I replaced my 86 truck compressor with the NEW GPD from rockauto.com. Had enough of the rebuilt FS6 problems. Changed the supplied oil with mineral and worked great last summer.

    Coolant problems?

My 86 warms up pretty quick I guess, depending on the cold. When it is rolling, it will get you sweating.

Weather that cold is hard on lead acid batteries. Not sure about AGM batteries. Maybe someone else will pipe in that uses the AGM in cold areas.

    Idle Pump Timing

To some degree. Low power. Been there. Can get it 180* out also & it will run. Bad and smoke like crazy, no power. Been there also. Either will crank ok if you hit the right spot but just won't run right.

Are O'Reilly Masterpro V belts any good?

I understand. Keep a lookout on rockauto.com. They have closeouts all the time + there is a code to use to save 5% on total purchase (check Supporting Vendors block). Get the cogged belts, they grab better & seem to last longer for me.

    Coolant problems?

192* on the Motorcraft. If cap is off, will not build pressure. Running parked, nose up for burping. 7# rad cap is good for your rad life. 13# is original. Engine running/driving should be at least 180*

Are O'Reilly Masterpro V belts any good?

Since you have all the new extra replacements, I would toss those in the trash and forget them. You have your known good replacements. Those are worn out. The cog belts will serve you much better.

Run some Hotshot Extreme in your tanks. Cycle the glowplugs a couple of times before starting. Upgrade to the Denso type starter. This will help for much quicker starts. I use the DB Electric starters & bought 2 per 1st purchase (1 to keep a backup). Price for 2 is cheaper than buying 1...

Yes it can if the IP was removed and replaced 1 tooth off. Check fuel delivery pressure also. May also try advancing pump a little.

    6.9 motor problem diagnosis

Yeah, I do the same work. If you have not reworked the A/C to 134a, would be good time for this also. DO NOT Scrap old condenser!! These work better than the replacement parallel flow condenser. That rust is probably due to condensation from the years of variable hot/cold Tennessee...

    6.9 motor problem diagnosis

First time I did my head gaskets, I pulled the front clip & could get to every thing much easier. Pulled the Rad, batteries, A/C ( I do A/C work), propped the hood, disconnected wiring & removed mounting bolts. Had 2 of my brothers help lift off the clip and set it to the side. Wallaa

    I’ve got a tick...

Check the position of the foam insulator on the throttle cable. If it is worn thru to the cable cover or cable cover is laying against the rearmost, driver's side injector feed line (#8), it will make a tick that goes with rpm of engine. The cable insulator is for guarding against this.
