So I was poking around in the engine bay last night for a few min and noticed the glow plug wires are in fairly bad shape. can they be temp wired easily? if so what should I use. Long term I would buy the upgrade system from Wes.
IDIoit the previous owner installed a new 38 gallon aft tank with a bottom sump setup and a aft water separator to a holley blue fuel pump and all new supply and return hose (pushlock type). So when the key is in the run pisition and i push Schrader valve i get a stedy strong flow of fuel and...
Thanks Wes and thank you Kizer. I am not familiar with the 7.3, So my experience comes mostly from gas engines and a few diesel tractors I have owned.
If this truck runs properly It is definitely something I am going to keep for a long time. Its a truck I have always wanted. But I have never...
I am on the fence about changing the oil at this point. I assume the system is properly primed and everything has oil right now, it is filled to the proper level and the oil doesn't smell like fuel and I pulled the drain plug just enough to verify that there is no water/coolant in the bottom of...
Hello All,
I have lurked on the site for a long time and recently bought a 1990 F250. Figured I would join and try to be a active member while I get this old truck worked out. I will use this post to continue my journey with this truck and document everything. I will post some pictures when I...
Just a quick update.
The replacement dipstick listed in the first post matched the original in length perfectly. And I was also lucky enough that when I pulled the dipstick tube that the broken end was still there and hadn't fallen in the oil pan.
I'm going to remove it then. This truck is set up with the large Baldwin water separator aft under the bed and has a standard no bowl Baldwin separator in the normal location under the hood. So I'm not really worried about water making it to the motor. Plus diesel fuel in my area never sits in a...
Not to hijack this ... but I have been researching this part for a couple days trying to figure out what it is. The 1990 f250 I am trying to get running has the water in fuel light on, but this module from what I can tell it has a circuit board that is sealed in with some kind of clear epoxy...
That was what I was thinking I would do. Just wanted to see if anyone was using it ... but the fact that we were thinking the same thing makes me feel a little better about buying it. I will report back after I get the new dipstick and most importantly remove the broken piece hopefully from the...
So I pulled the dipstick to check oil and the stick broke. I will pull the tube and hopefully be able to retrieve the lower part of the stick. My question is has anyone used this part https://puredieselpower.com/ford/ford-7.3l-idi-diesel-dip-stick-f4tz-6750-da.html Looks to be a one piece and...
From what I have been told he owns a 7.3 IDI and a Powerstroke. Only time will tell. But I will be sure to ask him directly. I am very mechanical, so I am not looking for someone to work on the the truck per say. Just someone to give me a good idea of what to address first.
Thanks for the offer Michael. I am getting the truck moved to my house today and I am going to have a local mechanic that specialized in 7.3 diesels take a look just to make sure I am spending money on the correct problem. If it turns out to be the pump I will get in touch with you.
Good afternoon everyone,
I am buying a 1990 f250 that needs an injection pump. I have read the articles on the replacement, but I am curious if anyone can recommend a shop in Portsmouth / Chesapeake Virginia that can be trusted to set the timing properly when I am finished.
