6.0 headgaskets, oil cooler, stc, ARP studs w/cab on

firat thing first the engine was bathed in oil, coolant, and dust/dirt/grime. It was soaked down with simple green and then washed off. It’s still nasty. But it’s better. The coolant and oil are drained. 98968E88-CD89-4320-9019-9D6DCB12736C by Crawler posted Nov 7, 2018 at 3:21 AM

6.0 headgaskets, oil cooler, stc, ARP studs w/cab on

I’ll work on some more detail as time allows. Feel free to ask any questions. My intent of this thread is to show that some of us do replace headgaskets without removing the cab or doing any unnecessary removing of extra parts. This is my usual process for 6.0 head work. ~Wes S.~

Post up your custom fuel pump/filtration setups....

A simple setup that I just put together. Removed broken shower heads, added 3/8ths line in the tank with swallow tail cuts, 3/8ths line to pre filters, relocated a generic switch valve, carter 4070. Aftermarket FSV and Bracket by Crawler posted Oct 15, 2018 at 4:03 AM FSV and Carter 4070 by...

    Ford 12v

You’ll need a tab to hold the KDP, a front cover gasket, and a crankshaft to front cover seal. Other than that, it’s just wrenching. I’d adjust the timing while I was in there. As far as the head gasket goes, no need to mess with it unless you have a problem currently or you are wanting to...

    Valve train questions/issues

I am not an IDI expert what so ever. So take what I ask or say with a grain of salt. Any engine that is assembled with the possibility of tight tolerances or with custom parts, or any valvetrain modifications, should have the PTV checked. No matter what a builder/designer/seller/assembler/aunt...

92 5 speed getting Banks Sidewinder, Moose Pump/Injectors, Valair SMF, Carter 4070

Thank you. I appreciate it. The client managed to locate a pretty nice truck. Finding really clean and unmolested trucks that are a quarter century old, is getting tough.

It hasn’t been down a track in many years. It’s been 9.6 Currently I have the engine pulled out of it. I blew up a billet wheel charger and sent shrapnel through the engine. I’m keeping the engine rebuild pretty simple. 20 over cast Mahle pistons Stock forged rods that have been shot...

Wes, After seeing the photos, do you feel there will be any issue with the mounting point of the lift pump? I’m up for constructive criticism on this from anybody.

I could be off base here, but I’m not aware of any of the big boy diesel clutch company’s making any high torque/hp clutches in a dual disk for anywhere near that amount. I’m not tLking about IDI, I’m talking about all platforms. There is a significant material and machining cost in going to a...

An issue that many don’t consider when looking at true twins is that you are taking the exhaust energy and dividing it in half between the chargers. Not only that, you are dealing with less exhaust pulses or events per charger. Both of these play a major role in driving your turbocharger(s)...

I figured I should start a small build thread on the 92. It's not overly detailed. But there are a few more photos over there. I do not know when I will have the time, but I will also work on a putting a build thread together for my half ton dodge 2nd gen that was converted to a 6BT Cummins...

I am hoping the the location of the fuel pump will be low enough to not have any cavitation issues. If the pump needs to be lowered, I can do so. However, I was hopeful to keep it tucked up high to avoid having the electrical connections below the lower edge of the framerail. I plan to install...

The electrical connector was replaced with the new style connector. All connections were made and individually shrink wrapped. Then the entire bundle was shrink wrapped. The factory loom was placed back on the factory portion of the wiring and then the ends were taped for a little more water...

As ya'll know the less expensive aftermarket FSVs are not a simple fast replacement. The ports are in different locations, they do not have quick connects, the mounting flange is not located correctly, and the electrical connection is different. We elected to run this valave due to cost and the...

After that, new lines were ran. Steel lines were cleaned and left in place. However the nylon lines and quick connects were removed. Two pre-filters were installed. A simple bracket was made to mount the aftermarket FSV. The placement of the FSV required two holes to be drilled in the frame...

All fuel was disposed of and the tank cleaned up. The showerhead was replaced with diesel rated fuel line and made to reach the bottom of the tank. Swallow tail cuts were added to ensure we wouldn't pull a vacuum against the tank bottom.

Full pillar with Banks gauges installed. I would have preferred a pyro with a faster response time. However, as stated previously it is not my truck.
