Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

I'd say if you've got the option to do it, do it outside. A lot more fun than trying to do it under the truck

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Even with a cheater bar on the u joint mount, I still can't get this thing to turn. Tore it apart while it was out and everything went back together the way it came out. Everything spun putting it together, just not when the case went on. I was just gonna installing it and let it all wear into...

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Nope, even in 5th the output shaft has zero play. Won't spin it all

That may do it, I'm in first

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

I can't spin the output shaft by hand. Even when I had it out on the ground, it's incredibly hard to rotate without something on the shaft to give it more torque

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Yep, I made sure to rotate it to just about every different spline location after getting the plate installed. Seemed to work just fine

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

When I raise the back up, it just throw the alignment of the BH to adapter plate out of whack. I'm trying to make sure the gap is uniform all the way around before pushing in, is that not right on these transmissions? I'm using 6 inch long bolts as my alignment studs, and I'm also using the...

Gettin' pissed over a ZF-5 install

Hey y'all, Clutch went out on my T19 a few weeks ago so I decided to go ZF-5 while I had the trans out. It was enough of a headache to get that heavy sumbitch under the truck, but now I got it all the way up and she won't slide into the clutch. I've tried shimmying, shaking, turning the crank...

    WTB ZF-5 4X4

Trying to find a ZF-5 4X4 for my 6.9 IDI. Prefer local pickup. I'm out of Sarasota, FL.

6.9 IDI moved forward almost an inch during motor mount replacement

Hey y'all come put new motor mounts in my f250 recently because they nuked themselves. I'm dropping the engine back down and ran into a hell of a problem. The engine seems to have moved forward about an inch, so the trans mount and engine mounts won't mount in the correct location. I was hoping...

'87 F250 | how am I supposed to do engine mounts?

Haven't pulled the tires off the ground yet, but it does seem to lift about 4 in. How much travel has that suspension got before it clears?

'87 F250 | how am I supposed to do engine mounts?

I'm trying to use a towing chain on the stock lift points on the manifold bolts. Is that not the right spot?

What's a good spot for that?

'87 F250 | how am I supposed to do engine mounts?

Hey y'all, had a motor mount grenade itself about a week ago and I'm trying to get new ones put in this weekend. I've got the four large bolts underneath through the cross member removed along with the two trans bolts that go through the crossmember. When trying to lift the engine with a crane...

Chasing a fuel leak/air intrusion problem that is beginning to really frustrate me

If you've got the time to do it, the best way I've found to locate a source of air intrusion is with clear hose. Tractor supply sells it for next to nothing. Run some clear hose from your tank outlet to the selector switch, then the switch forward. You can either replace the lines, or do what I...

What size is the o-ring on the injection pump return valve?

Hey y'all, I see tons of o-rings for the injectors, but none for the injection pump itself. The little valve on top of the pump that goes to the return line seems to be leaking. When I pulled it to add some Teflon tape, it turns out it's got an o-ring on it. What size is this o-ring? I can't...

Hydro boost swap hoses | HB to steering box fitting?

It's not for my truck. I'm retrofitting hydroboost into my '87.

Hydro boost swap hoses | HB to steering box fitting?

Hey y'all, I'm putting hydroboost on my 87 f250 with a 6.9 IDI. I ordered some power steering hoses from AutoZone for a 96 F350 with a PSD. The hose from the steering pump to the booster looks correct and fits in the booster, but the one going to the box has the wrong end. The hose has a female...

Electric Vacuum pump vs Hydro-boost swap

Main reason I didn't want a reman is price. New booster is what, ~$300? The last one I got was about $25 from a pick and pull and worked like a champ. But that got a bunch of adapters and a Chevy MC to go with it. They all look about the same.

Electric Vacuum pump vs Hydro-boost swap

Alright, so now I get to start scouring for a HB unit. Do I need a Ford/Super Duty booster specifically? Like I mentioned earlier, I have an Astro van booster on my bronco; but had to make new AN lines with adapters. Granted, that was a full swap from manual steering and manual brakes. Pictures...

Electric Vacuum pump vs Hydro-boost swap

I drive around 100 miles round trip every day. Probably got 2000 miles out of my mechanical pump

Electric Vacuum pump vs Hydro-boost swap

'87, so I'll end up needing a small pump at least for the HVAC/Cruise
