    $745 Driveshaft games

So. . . the asphalt queen with the Allison trans and the adapter connecting the transfer case required shortening the original driveshaft. Shouldn't be a problem. Going from a 2WD toy to the 4x4 had me playing with the carrier bearing drop. The 2WD frame carrier bracket drop is about 2 inches...

    Injector pump no return

Somewhere I read that the return line coming out the top of the fuel filter should be raised an inch above the filter housing to reduce/prevent stalling after a start up. After you get the I/P redone, this might be something to consider. I raised the hose and wrapped a zip tie around it to keep...

    Bigger parts coming

I went out to the '87 4X4 F250 and the bracket on that truck was roughly a 5-9/16 inch drop. The 2WD bracket on the the '94 is about 1-1/2 inch drop, before I did the mono-beam conversion. I plan on adding one or two more spacers to this party and then probably drop a few bucks on an aluminum...

    Bigger parts coming

The 02/94 F350 CC Dually has the OEM Turbo. Nice but not great. I am also fighting a drive line vibration as the 2WD frame center bearing bracket is different from the 4X4. The 4X4 is a taller bracket. An aluminum drive line is roughly, without looking too far, $12-1400. That should negate any...

Torque Specs for U-Bolts and Leaf Spring Bushings

I believe. . . I did mine at 190#. as this was a project, I redid them several days in a row allowing for stretch. If your going to drive it upon assembly, I suggest recheck them after a day and then roughly at 500 miles. I was impressed at how much they loosened up.

    Idi turbo questions

Cheena turbo. You get what you pa~BOOM!~y for. Cheena has a great ability to copy pieces. Metallurgy leaves a lot to be desired. I like the stories where the turbo comes apart and ingests shards into the intake/valves/pistons/oil pan.

    1986 6.9 IDI - Washington

Being the coward that I am, I like wrapping any power wires through the dash in a section of vacuum hose for additional insulation. Mysterious bolt is the engine block drain. A 6 point socket comes in handy. Running the engine to temp to allow expansion might help. Installing radiator petcocks...

Stick to the damn topic when posting

My wife one time, as we were driving down the road, asked me, "Why is it that men grow old with grace and women just get ugly?" She moved to Heaven 163 days ago, and I never did say anything regarding anything about anything in that department in any way, shape or form. Not to say that I was...

    F700 Hood Latch Handle ?

I had to change my '94 F350 7.3 idi hood latch when I installed a different grille. I would up welding an arm off to the one side because reaching through the front anymore was not possible. As for simply welding on a longer arm, whuffer? You might just need an alignment or adjustment to make...

    Instrument cluster lights and gauges

loose connection at the I/P electrical connector. Fuel is low when signal wire is grounded, High when wire is open/no connection.

Removed cluster now gauges are off

You have the two best answers. I will give you the third answer. The rectangular plug that goes into the back of the cluster is NOT fully seated. Yes. Now you get to pull it all back apart.

    Gear indicator fix? (automatic tranny)

By now you should have figured out your problem. If you remove the two bolts holding the indicator in the dash, you will find it has a spring to the "P" position. Research a "PRNDL Indicator" for your truck. You should be able to find a new one to stuff in there.

    Valve Stem Seals

"starving the oil on the exhaust valves as I've read about it happening when going to a positive-ring style seal." is a viable concern. What came off? Anything?

    Glow plugs

With my limited knowledge, I believe the spade is obsolete and the bullet is the only option. I have a toggle switch on the dash that gives me the option to override the controller or leave it in the normal position so that it acts as it would in the factory set up. This option allows normal...

Electric Fuel Pump Setup - Is this no good?

Electric fuel pumps are designed to push fuel. NOT pull it. They work best when lower than the tank and can go to not working at all when mounted in the engine bay. Electric pump can push fuel up to 11 feet in the air and that was cheap pumps back in the day.

    Bigger parts coming

I have driven this toy long enough that the TCM for the Allison is learning the shift pattern. It would learn a lot faster if I didn't live in the hills. That truck is in dire need of more power to make the Allison a bit happier and i have a feeling that i will be purchasing upgraded parts over...

    Bigger parts coming

Well, currently I am starting to scrape nickels together and haven't done that for some time. I/P, Turbo and Injectors are on the distant horizon currently. Now if things change shortly, then this will happen much, much sooner. As of now, I am expecting nothing prior to December and maybe not...

    Bigger parts coming

Well, it's got the factory turbo and that does help loads over the ugly '87 F250 6.9 in comparison that I own. Speaking of which, needs to go away very soon. So a bigger turbo - I/P and injectors first? Which I believe is cheaper.
