    Oil pressure/ Temperature and level

Still on the education side of this '94 idiT. Did the first oil change on the rebuilt engine. Dropped in 3 gallons, even pre~filled the filter. Ran it down the road no problems, then one day the rebuilt turbo dropped out and noticeable loss of power. Pulled over, pulled the dip stick and the oil...

02/94 Crewcab F350 bench to bucket seat swap ??

Title pretty much say's it all. She drives and my knees are in my chest. Think I can tell her NOT to drive the truck? So, what years can I get swapped in without drilling holes and what not to "Make it fit"? I am willing enough to run wires if need be, but not into drilling holes into the...

    E4OD experts please chime in

Ford transmissions love the "Neutral Safety Switch" going out or as ford calls it, a "Range Selector Switch". That is how I got my E4OD to finally work right.

    Sudden Unexplained No-Start

I was just about to chime in with comp check. Before you throw an engine at it, do us all a favor and pull both valve covers. Yeah, one side is a PITA. Move the rockers. Find any loose ones due to bent push rods? By the time you get those replaced, the engine from Promar (?) might be an...

That one piece filter might have a plug on the bottom of it that the old sensor never got swapped in. Care to look?

    Towing ?

I took the '86 6.9 idi down to Az a few years ago. Loaded with a 2K# slide in camper. Basically Portland to Phoenix and down through Utah. Hills were fun at about 37 MPH going up. Down was no problem. Came back up through Cali on I-5. Next trip will be with the '94 idiT crewcab dually. Still...

No communication from data port ??

All that scanner port will do is give you trans codes at best. If memory serves, the large port goes to the scanner and a power cable to the small port for the Snap-On Brick. Your antique truck does not have a PCM for engine data. Since you are after wiring diagrams, you might try alldatadiy.com...

    Mblaney -- O/P switch running G/P controller.

You wrote, "I added an oil pressure switch that deactivates the GP relay once I have oil pressure - I get maybe one cycle after engine start, I don't wait for GP's if the engine is already warm, and I notice a LOT less failures of GP's. I consider this to be a 'must-have'...

    Stumped with soft brakes

Before, before you waste your time going back to the mech, drive your truck up to 30 MPH, then make a firm stop. Do it 9 more times. Chances re by the time you get to #8, you will be smelling brakes getting hot. Do it 2 more times to 10 and then let it cool off for 30 minutes. Then go drive it...

It's coming?? Allison conversion kit out'a Florida.

Yes it does. However a Rblt Allison is around $3K from a fast check. That gives another $9K for the rest of it. A bit fat for my desires.

It's coming?? Allison conversion kit out'a Florida.

Well, he did have the emblems on the hood stating "Duramax". A quick look at the spec sheet on those shows an increasing HP amount over the years to current production. Where as it is possible to increase the HP output of a 7.3 idiT to a higher number, the need for gears is still a factor. The...

It's coming?? Allison conversion kit out'a Florida.

I chased a Duramax down the road, him pulling a 25/30' camper trailer and I was carrying my slide in camper. running around 75 MPH and he was not having much issue getting away from me. Looking at the spec sheet, he had a tad bit more power to start with. The Allison gearing should get that 75...

It's coming?? Allison conversion kit out'a Florida.

I have been told 10-12K is the kit. Then you get the install, fluid and drive line mod. I thought about another truck routine and that brings in newer machines with more ECU's. etc. Currently I like the OD lock out switch. Turn it on about 50 MPH.

It's coming?? Allison conversion kit out'a Florida.

https://www.caconversions.com/ is the link. Like has been said, $12K is a whole bunch of money. It does however eliminate the desire for 2 more gears to get it down the road. With the 4:10 rear end I believe it is pulling about 1800 RPM at 67 MPH. So keeping up with the more powerful engines...

"We are putting the IDI on the floor this weekend hope to have the adapter shortly!" Last I checked this was in the $10 to $12K range. A bit spendy for my blood currently. Another week or so and something might transpire.

    Anyone proactively replace parts?

I am a retired fleet mechanic from the largest nationwide vehicle fleet. Wanna guess which one? Problem we ran into too, far too many times, was the replacement parts were below par. Upper management usually always went the cheap route. My own stuff? I know what to look for and when. I am...

    Traded in 1991 F250

Ford dealers tend to Keep Ford trucks on the lot. Same with Chevy and the rest of them. They usually have a second used car lot under a different name and then there is always the auction. 144K miles is a bit high for a main lot resale. if it was clean and straight, it probably went to the...

02/ '94 F350 CC Dually, A little bit is good and more is better. This toy is getting the hydroboost brake upgrade along with a rear axle disc brake kit. Disc brakes are good for no longer having to adjust them. That possibly brings into the equation the proportioning valve. If the truck is...

1996 F Superduty Won't Stay in Third Gear

Fords are absolutely notorious for the range selector switch. Also know as the neutral switch. Your E4OD is on the back of the transmission. A goofy shifting problem would make me look at that first. 500 miles on a rebuild and a 99% chance the old switch was used. It could be simply out of...
