Power glow plugs thru a switch straight from the battery?

Maybe. For over 10 years I've run a manual GP setup with a DIY harness and no metal strap. No alternator problems or GP failures.

Throttle Cable Receiver Connection keeps "Popping Off" of the Injection Pump Arm

At this point I think all the available throttle cables are aftermarket.

    Updating heater hoses

When I recently freshened up a lot of stuff under the hood I replaced all the heater hoses. I wen with the Gates 'Green Stripe' heater hoses because they were supposedly a bit better. I think there are silicone heater hoses available but they are $$$$. For connections it's hard to beat barbed...

1989 7.3 voltage regulator on a 1986 Harness. Will it work? What is the 4th terminal

Sounds like a good time to just upgrade to 3g and ditch the extra wiring for the voltage regulator. I put one of these...

    Tachometer jumpy when using hvac

Try tapping on the tach display to see if the problem is mechanical. I've seen gauges that were off but a good tap would bring 'em back--not a fix obviously but maybe a useful diagnostic.

7.3 idi injection pump leaking from advance piston.

Pumps can and do go longer but performance drops off. Since the IP is lubricated by the fuel I would guess that a pump ought to last longer with a lubricity additive and this is certainly my hope with the Opti-Lube XL I use in every tank. On my last truck with an IDI the IP developed a leak...

7.3 idi injection pump leaking from advance piston.

The injection pumps have an expected service life of 100k so if you're at 133k you're on bonus time already.

    Should I buy this truck?

Well, if you're bored I guess it could be fun but it sure sounds like a lot of work if the body is the only good part. The lower compression numbers are a bummer.

7.3 idi injection pump leaking from advance piston.

I have never dug into an injection pump but I would have to wonder whether or not the leak was worth fixing since those sorts of problems seem to generally occur when the IP is close to or at the end of its useful service life.

    Exhaust Manifold Removal

I recently replaced both exhaust manifolds with new Dorman models and they worked just fine, however, one package was missing the studs so I had to buy some. Also, the included Dorman exhaust manifold gaskets looked a bit different than the FelPro ones I already had so I just used the FelPros...

Best Return Line Setup for Peterson CNC Caps? (1/4" vs 3/16" Hose)

This is the fitting at the injection pump to convert to JIC https://www.titanfittings.com/adapters-and-fittings/hydraulic-adapters/stainless-hydraulic-fittings/stainless-sae-o-ring-boss-orb-fittings/ss-6400?f=Size%3D5%2F16%22

    Tach cutting in and out

https://www.usshift.com/usq4rd.shtml I'm on the fence about going this route myself.

    Tach cutting in and out

I think a lot of signs are pointing towards the TCM as the next point to examine.

Is the signal cutting out and causing shifting problems with the E4OD?

New 3g alternator--High voltage and then low voltage, bad regulator?

UPDATE: Installed a new voltage regulator and now the new alternator seems to be working normally. 14.4v charge at idle.

Protective Seat Covers for 1993 F250HD

I recently investigated seat cover options, admittedly for a bench seat, but after looking through a handful of websites I was going to go with Saddleman seat covers. I ended up just buying a seat cover meant for dogs because I needed something that I could easily remove and clean if...

While the truck sits unused.. can I/should I soak the cylinders?

If you want something stronger than SeaFoam I would check out "Kreen" from Kano Labs.

Best Return Line Setup for Peterson CNC Caps? (1/4" vs 3/16" Hose)

I use the return line routing as suggested by Classic Diesel Designs and the Peterson caps have worked well for me so far. Basically the return lines form a rectangle--plug the return port on the filter head, connect #1 cap to #2 cap and use a brass 1/4 barbed tee to connect the IP return...

    "Re-Priming" Fuel System on 1993 7.3 IDI

You should be able to pull fuel up to the filter head--the injection pump is capable of sucking fuel from the tanks without a lift pump so there are no normal obstructions/valves to worry about. I would think you could remove the Schrader fitting or the return line fitting from the filter head...

    Part I’d help

Well I've taken apart the bucket seats from an OBS several times and never noticed any hard foam. I would be inclined to think it came from under the dash.

PSA: For those replacing 4wd front shackle bushings with polyurethane, check your shackle first.

I would add a note regarding the potential for squeaks when using poly bushings. If I had it to do over again I would never have used poly bushings and would have just bought new shackles for not much more money. Rubber is quieter than poly.

    1989 Ford f-350 7.3L IDI 4x4 (2900) original miles

I saw that rig on the Marketplace and was tempted but realized it was way more of a project than I could handle for a while. Cool truck though. With the tag axle you might get someone interested in a weird "overland" build. For comparison value there has been a 1989 2wd F350 C&C flatbed with...

New 6.9 IDI - Deciding if worth resurrecting or not

It shouldn't be very hard to apply for a new title. Paperwork gets lost or damaged so i would guess all states have some procedure to remedy the situation.
