5 degrees just seemed like too much.
If it had been less than 2 degrees, I might have tried it as is.
It is the size of the spacer I calculated that kind of shocked me. I did not think ford would be that far out on their engineering.
I still have to make it and verify my calculation though. But...
Hello
I am converting from e4od to zf5 in my 1994 f250 idit
short story.
I have a 1990 cross member from a 1990 zf5 which would have been perfect but is rusted too badly to use.
Found an L shaped cross member in my parts stash which matched the frame bolt face to tranny mount bolt face off set...
Hi old goat
I had trouble finding a new throw out bearing for my current project through the local parts stores.
It was suggested to try a heavy truck repair center and this is what they found for me.
An SKF bearing with a much larger bearing. It fits the forks and the transmission. the...
The more I work on my truck, the more I realize a lot of the old ford parts are greater in quality than the after market parts.
Thanks for the how to.
We need more like this
Cheers
I put a topper on my gasser pickup in the winter.
Annoying when the box is full of snow when i need to use it.
I use to only use 4 clamps but found the topper moving backwards a few times.
Now I use 6 clamps and haven't had problems since.
When my daughter backed into the box on that truck a...
Sorry never got out to my shed today. We have been getting snow squalls from off of lake huron all day and it just felt too nice sitting by my wood stove and watching the snow whip by to want to go outside. but it looks like the previous posters already gave you the info you needed from me.
Oh...
Hello
I did this swap also, over 20 years ago.
I got my trany out of an 87 f350 c&c parts truck I bought. It came with a 6.9 - zf5 drive train, still have that motor sitting under a bench
I remember it as a stright forward job. although I can't remember if I was able to keep the 4 speed master...

I used a calculator on the internet to come up with these numbers
thought people might be interested.
i did some numbers rounding
I used the s42 numbers for the 4.10 and 3.55 gears as that is what came in our trucks
I...
Sorry about the double post I accdentaly hit post twice . Not sure how to delete
Hi idibobs
I am not going to be towing with this rig. I am using it for travel only. I will have the 4.10 gears to put back in if I change my mind.

Hi idibobs
I am not going to be towing with this rig. I am using it for travel and camping only. I will have the 4.10 gears to put back in if I change my mind.
I am not unfamiliar with how these gears work as my 84 idi f250 had the 3.07 gears and I loved them when I wasn't towing.
The top 3...
A while back I posted questions about fitting a dana 61 with 3.07 gears into my 94 idit to replace the 4.10 stierling that is in it, to make a hiway truck for traveling because I loved the milage that I use to get with the 84 that came with that axle...
Have you checked the o ring seating surface on the injector for damage. You have changed everything else so I would carefully inspect the injector for scratches or dings in the seating area.
good luck!
Hi
If you are decide to modify a turbo setup for your van.
I have a banks turbo with all the major components, that I was going to install on a 1984 f250.
But I bought a 1994 f250 idit and no longer plan to use the banks setup.
I will definitely sell it for less than 1100.
I am about 2.5...
I will leave it for now. This truck ran noticeable better after I finished timing it. Shows that having the timing checked on an old pump can be worthwhile.
I am interested in the possible reasons turbo motors might like slower timing though.
Thanks idi bronco and Black Dawg,
I will have to pick up a set of crowsfoot wrenches for the future.
I was trying to go to 8 Degrees as per the manual but sounds like it is not needed.
Hello All
I bought a 1994 2wd extended cab turbo diesel a little over a month ago. And after having it safetied, I have been driving it for the last couple of weeks to get a feel for how it runs.
This truck came with stock size exhaust and no other modes that I can see.
Today I decided to...
The original invoice did seem like a lot to me, but here in Canada, our prices always seemed much higher at that time than prices in the US.
Example from memory, In the early 2000s the cheapest glow plugs I could find where I lived were around 30 dollars each for the cheap glow plugs. On a trip...
Hello
In 2019, I looked into having a spare engine I have rebuilt.
I approached an engine rebuilder I know about the cost involved. And he informed me he had one sitting in a corner of his shop, which he had not been paid for. He offered this motor to me for 3000 dollars.
It had been bored...
Thanks again for the input.
This hive mind is full of smart people
The more information and Ideas put forward the better for me.
I figure the 84 would be the candidate for 4wd conversion My 96 parts truck has the dana 60 front that could be swapped over with matching rear.
The 94 2wd truck...
