    1988 Power Door Lock Actuator-Question

The Dorman actuator looks exactly like the priors I've have purchased...but why is it no longer listed for a 1988 F250??? eBay shows then for $17.00 (but not for a 1988 F250)???

    1988 Power Door Lock Actuator-Question

That's what I tend to believe, the same exact actuator fits several years and applications...but WHY delete a 1988 F250 from the list??? eBay $17.00 worst case it's a paper weight.

    1988 Power Door Lock Actuator-Question

But it's not being listed for a 1988 F250 anymore. And...I don't know if, it may be different from a 1989...get it now?

    1988 Power Door Lock Actuator-Question

They die because the aftermarket units are made in china and/or I constantly use my truck for a local driver...in-out-lock-unlock-repeat over and over-and over several times a day. Also, sometimes moisture travels down the actuator rod into the motor. So...I'm guessing, the 1988 actuator is the...

    1988 Power Door Lock Actuator-Question

What's going on here? A few times in the past... I've purchased the power door lock actuator for my 1988 F250 from eBay. Now...it's no longer listed for a 1988 F250...but they have it for a 1989...what gives? Even Rock Auto... isn't listing it for a 1988, but viewed below they show it for a...

Rear Axle Oil Seals R&R...Easy or PITA?

Ok fellas, with your opinion I went and purchased the Scotseal...$40.96! However, even though I can forcibly spin it by hand, I'm not agreeing with the concept this seal is designed to spin within itself, that would certainly burn that seal up! For sealing, I agree applying RTV to the outer...

Rear Axle Oil Seals R&R...Easy or PITA?

This nick was already existing and no way I could have caused it, but right in the seals path. Only thing I can do is try to smooth it out a little bit with Emery cloth. The SKF seal may have a more forgiving footprint...I don't know.

Rear Axle Oil Seals R&R...Easy or PITA?

This is the seal I installed 11 months ago, I've used National/federal mogul a lot in the past with no issues. This one was intended for the passenger side but never got around to doing it. I stopped by a good friend's shop (in businesses 40 + years) he told me; "Ray, the aftermarket has gotten...

Rear Axle Oil Seals R&R...Easy or PITA?

Update...11 months later and the replaced drivers side oil seal FAILLED! I started noticing the braking was not all that great, the passenger side rear wheel would grab and the drivers side did not. Looked under the rear and sure enough the drivers side drum is again wet with gear oil...

Thanks again fellas, sorry for the late reply but I have not been healthy. I put maybe 30 miles on the truck in a few short days. All was quiet and seemed tight then...I left my father nursing home (4 mile drive) and I heard metal buckling below the drivers floor. Got home and sure enough the...

Well, that repair didn't last long...30 miles driven on smooth roads and the floor below my feet felt movement and I heard metal buckling. Also, the gap between the drivers door and the front fender closed up again. So how do I handle that with the body shop that originally told me "I guarantee...

Thank you so much for the dome light info! The shop owner wants me to bring the truck to him next week and they will look into why the light is now not working...I will certainly pass your info along to him. As far as the repair...well...I can say it's nice riding in my truck to where the cab...

I wish I could post a pic of the original work sheet for $1,500 and the final bill for a tic under $2,000. A $500.00 increase may not seem like much but, it's what a well experienced shop told me, gave me in writing and what I budgeted for and why I went ahead and had the work done...$500.00 is...

FELLAS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR FEEDBACK I READ THEM ALL, BUT PLEASE READ THE BELOW. The shop owner and I did have a talk this morning...I kindly asked; "so how did my job go from 25 hours to 57 hours?" The list was long! I was standing right there...when his son first crawled under and...

There is "fine print" at the bottom of the quote that states unforeseeable problems could up the price. All along (through the 15 days he had the truck) I though we were at $1,500 with no hint there would be a significant increase until late yesterday and I got the exact number this morning.

    LMC Door Hinges Any Good?

The body shop that is repairing my cab-mounts (now charging me more than I was quoted) tells me my drivers side door hinges are shot...I was there this morning and sure enough the repair-kit I installed a few years back is sloppy. Years back (maybe 5) I ordered and installed the "bushing and pin...

After 16 days, tomorrow my truck will be done...the original written quote of $1,500 is no longer valid...it's MORE $$$$$! Needless to say I'm not happy about this, I had a budget to work with and why I agreed to the original price. Now, I'm being charged for next day shipping on sheet metal...

UPDATE...the Cab swap is a no-go, even with the gracious donation of a rust-free cab and someone delivering it for a reasonable fee the financial cost is way beyond my reach. Wow, in all honesty some of the replies to keep my ole girl on the road and the offer for a "free rust-free cab" and having it delivered actually have my eyes tearing-up. Over the decades many have known me here and actually have met me and my once pristine truck at the IDI Rally held in Pa...
