CDD Core Buyback Program and Website Update

Thank you everyone who’s been sending cores in, it helps me a ton to having a good pool on hand and not having to scramble to find a good head and rotor to get pumps out. These are going out tomorrow for machining to insert my ceramic advance piston sleeves, still taking more if y’all got them!

    Bigger IP/Injector help

Having a flat fueling curve has a lot to do with peak cylinder pressure and popping head gaskets, building a pump to put out fuel where there’s air to use it is what keeps your engine together. I’m running a 130 pump on a stock engine out here in the Texas heat, you’ll be fine with a 90.

    Building a better db2

On the early 110 pumps he was running additional fill ports for a few pumps but ran into them developing hot start issues because of it, so he quickly quit doing that mod. Advance pistons pushing out the plugs is just from other things breaking or pushing tp too far, if I keep things reasonable...

    Gas tank mod?

Or go overboard and run a 38 gal midship tank from a superduty and 38 gal rear tank.. If you want to run both tanks together I’d recommend sumping both tanks so you’re getting the entire fuel capacity out of both tanks, no matter what shape your shower head is in you’ll never get the same...

    Building a better db2

If you’re setting up the governor to get full opening the metering valve will never be a restriction, but that’s difficult to accomplish and still get enough closure to make it idle at stock rpms, especially with 40+ psi inlet pressure running your transfer pressure way up at idle but I’ve...

Project: The New CDD Shop Truck

Well nothing with my projects lately, but I still have a blast seeing customer projects coming together just as much as building my own trucks, and pushing the limits with the fuel parts has been really rewarding, still plenty of fun being had, just more on my plate than there used to be.

    Building a better db2

Little different build from last night, I have a gm customer who wanted a 400hp capable db2 with fueling adjustment to fine tune his rods in. I went pretty overkill with this pump, did a custom dual thrust bearing support since these housings don’t have a thrust plate and washer like the ford...

Bigger is better. Only one missing is the .450 since it’s in a pump.

    Project Truck - 89' F250

I would do the cdr on the intake, even put a catch can in between if you want to help separate the oil out just make sure it’s large enough porting and capacity. I’ve found if you don’t have vacuum on the cdr you’re going to run into a lot of oil leaks, and the rdt just stinks too.

    Idle hunting...

Low fuel pressure or could be you’re getting some air intrusion, but even just a bad tank of fuel can do this. Try some hot shot extreme see if it clears up if you’re not seeing bubbles out the return line and your post filter pressure is good.

The little relay that always melts is for the fuel heater, you don’t need it either

    Building a better db2

Some seized custom head and rotors figuring out big bore stuff. The ones with the rotors sticking out I actually pressed apart with the sleeve. Just a few broken cam pins, I do all my test work with db2 cam pins to keep costs down on pumps that could spontaneously eat themselves, and to have a...

    Building a better db2

Most of these belong in the “carnage” thread in the lounge, but figured it would be more relevant here, cost of finding the weak links and pushing the limits. Broken driveshaft takes out a housing, visibly cracking straight through How much is too much transfer pressure? Cam pin shears with...

Helping with a no start issue

If you got smoke, you got fuel getting into the cylinders trying to combust. You need more heat to ignite that fuel (better compression, working glow plugs, quicker cranking starter). Gasoline has a lower ignition temp so a lightly gas soaked rag over the intake with the glow plugs deactivated...

Project: The New CDD Shop Truck

Further parting out the poor shop truck today, stealing the injectors and turbo off it for cores found something interesting. If y’all look back to when this past na engine failed a rod ejected at on the driver side #6 hole. Pulling the driver side injectors #2 came out clean but 6 and 8 are...

    Rear Tank Help

No more tanks until importation opens back up. I’ve got plenty of tanks (paid for too) just can’t get them over here, about a month before Covid hit and importation was blocked I placed a bulk order through spectre because the tanks were getting quite a bit of interest, but can’t get them now...

    11 Year 75 Crew Cab 7.3 Build

Option dos, leave the sender since it works and install a sump with pushlock lines, I really like having access to the lines below the tank and having a drain plug, but the factory setup works well when it works too.

It’s coming together, I need to update the fuel shop thread but I’ve just been working like mad trying to get caught up on everything, been a new disaster each week but keeps life interesting I guess LOL I’m very pleased with how much fuel this pump puts out, believe it or not this is a (Brand...
