It's very easy to burn out that fusible link in the large black/orange output wire. No one takes the batteries loose when changing the alternator, one little oops of that wire to a piece metal on the engine when changing the alternator is all it takes to burn that fusible link in two.
The way...
In the neutral, with the clutch released, what did it sound like when you revved the engine a little bit? I am assuming you know all about roll-over noise from a retro fit solid flywheel?
Welding guys in the know always told me do not weld a fishplate on all 4 sides. If on a frame, only top and bottom, no vertical welds. Something about closing it in on 4 sides causes a bunch of stress when it cools and it will have a tendency to crack later on at the welds.
All the transfer cases I have seen leaking, leaked on the main case halves parting line. And I had one that leaked because someone over tightened the oil drain plug and it put a hairline crack at the plug hole. I took a file and filed the threads to a vee in the crack, and then put some JB...
If you do not mind doing a little fiddling and programming, the aftermarket shift controllers give you more options than the factory controller ever did. I like a manual also, the automatics seem to leave so much of the low end these engines have to offer on the table. But I bet if you could...
Figure the cost to go the two different routes, the E4OD versus the gear vendor. I think you will find they are close to the same price, but the E4OD fits better and will give you a little bit better mileage with the lock-up convertor.
Relay would work, but keeping it out of the weather may take a sealed box or something. Or moving and extending the sending unit wiring up into the cab to keep the relay out of the weather, or adding a switch on the dash, both requiring extending the wiring.
Just expect your ears to burn when...
Gasser switching valves are totally mechanical, no wires. The pressure from the in tank pumps mechanically moves the switching valve. The electrical switching of the sending units is done by the dash switch, not the valve on the frame like the diesels. That is why the diesel valve has so many...
Like everything else, quality is getting suspect and the switching valve's longevity is in question.
For the guy ditching the valve and using the dash switch, you can't do it unless you do a whole bunch of re-wiring. The switching valve had two jobs, switching the fluid lines between the...
You are going after what the factory has been trying for years with dual turbo's, variable vane turbos, etc. Translation, lots of stuff to fail.
If you want some get up and go, you are going to have to downshift out of all that overdrive. Nothing wrong with that.
Your steering linkage and the bar look like they are in a awfully steep angle. Are you running a dropped pitman arm? Looks like you should. The longer the track bar is, the better. It should be close to the steering linkage angle, and be at least as long or longer than the steering linkage.
Be aware the Holley red and other pumps of that design have their own regulator built in. So when the pressure gets over what they are rated for they recirculate the fuel inside the pump itself.
So buy the pump with the built in regulator, or buy a high pressure pump that requires the external...
Use the IDI flywheel. I will caution you, the 12 in clutches work well, but your flywheel cover plate will probably hit the larger clutch. I think most people just leave it off, I have been running my truck for many years with no flywheel cover and it has never been a problem.
For your info, ALL Ford transfer cases will bolt up to ALL Ford 4wd transmissions. Except the 6 speed stuff won't fit. Your transfer case from the t19 should bolt right up to the zf.
If you do get another transfer case, try to get the shifter that comes with it. While all transfer cases bolt...
You have a glowplug or plugs bad, or bad connections in the glowplug wiring. It's the nature of how the controller is designed.
The controller monitors the current flow to the glowplugs when they are fired. When they are cold they draw a lot of current. But as they heat up they draw less and...
How do you put a check in the return line? Wouldn't that stop the flow to the tank? So you turn the check around and now it allows fuel to return to the tank, but will not let the fuel from the tank flow to the engine in the return system. What good is that going to do?
I had an idea, have...
I do not care if you bought the largest electric fuel pump known to man, it will not develop any pressure if there is no restriction in front of it to build against. It's about flow, not pressure.
Someone can correct me, but I think the injection pump has a small pump inside of it that...
I swapped in a ZF 5 speed. You need the 4.10 for towing. You can have your cake and eat it too by leaving the 4.10 rearend, you can tow and not be in overdrive, and use the overdrive for running empty.
I swapped the zf in because it was the cheaper factory option. The other factory option is...
He is used to vehicles with overdrive, where when you let off the pedal they tend to keep going by themselves. Take any of your newer vehicles and pull them out of overdrive, and they will act the same way as your van when you let off the throttle.
It's a lot of work, but swapping in a...
If this happens again in 2 to 3 years, I would suspect the material the o-rings in the kit are made from. I would then just get the viton o-rings and re-use the caps. You can get fuel hose from Napa if you want to redo that also. I have never bought a "kit" for mine. Mine has the original...
