7.3 IDI Rocker Arms removal and instillation

You are on the right track. The disk on the end of the crank with the 15/16 bolt is the damper. If it is covered in grime you may not see the mark, but it is a groove front to rear. Sorry I don't have a photo handy. Just above the damper is a timing plate with two tubes on it. For future...

7.3 IDI Rocker Arms removal and instillation

Just set the damper so the mark is at 11:00 and you don't move it again until all the rockers are installed. The copper end goes up, to the rocker.

7.3 IDI Rocker Arms removal and instillation

The manual says to rotate the damper until the timing mark is at 11:00 (20* from vertical). At that position, none of the pistons are at the top, and all the rockers can be installed. 20ft/lb is listed as torque for rocker bolts. Edit: Beat me to it.

    Camshaft Assembly ?

The upgraded cam gear has a cast lug on the backside to balance the eccentric fuel pump lobe. That is why the cam gear was upgraded, to improve balance.

http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?56221-Looking-for-Input-on-boring-6-9-to-7-3 Here is the thread with the Harlan Sharpes. He hasn't posted in a while. Maybe you can contact him with a pm.

How to tell if my cylinder is at TDC?.

Your damper has a line on it. The timing plate has a line with a "0", it will be where the larger, shorter of the two tubes is. You may have to clean things up to see the lines. When the marks are aligned, #1 and #4 are at TDC. Cylinders are numbered 1,3,5,7 on pass side starting in front, and...

    Looking at a N"used" F250 IDI

Get a Motorcraft thermostat from a Ford dealer. Parts store units don't seem to work properly. A real gauge would be a good idea. If you use the sender port at the lower front of the drivers side head your dash gauge will still work. That ports sensor only triggers the overtemp idiot light. The...

finally! the long awaited engine build.

I don't know what ever happened to the guy building a 6.9 with the Harland Sharpes. Last I heard he thought ARP studs weren't good enough and the thing was being torn down again. The shop doing the work was Valley Balancing in Ceres. I am interested in the roller rockers too, but the custom push...

How to remove and replace steering column?

You are going to have to separate the steering shaft from the column on the engine side. If I recall there is a bolt and clip. You need to take out the bolts holding the plate the column goes through at the firewall, as well as the ones holding the column to the dash. There is a large wiring...

    Ray-Wel High Flow Intake System?

There is an article in the tech section at the top of the page on removal of windshield trim. You need a tool to lever the trim clips under the trim. I bought the LMC seal and it is the same length as a stock one.

Correct way to do rear main?

I scanned the pages related to the rear main. The manual assumes you have the related tool kit. If your crank has no groove worn into it you don't need a wear sleeve. There are two seal sizes. The Ford seal/sleeve set has a different inside diameter because of the thickness of the factory wear...

Correct way to do rear main?

I feel your pain. My first attempt was using the factory seal/sleeve combo, with the engine on a stand. I drilled out the holes on the installer tool and tried to press it in with allthread and nuts. I was doing this with the oil pan off and the plate was bending. I got it done but had no faith...
