This thread has helped me a bunch. Love the build. Could it be Just some air in the cooling system that needs worked out . Maybe a thermostat. Sounds like the fan clutch is working.
I'm going to be another vote against the Facet pump. I was running it with a 110cc pump and stage 1 injectors . Could not keep up. I read all he info , and at the time it seemed the schizzel. I ran it for maybe 10 grand so I gave it a good run. Switched to a Holley red, for now it's doing the...
Really enjoying this thread. Thanks for all the great pics! I would be interested in the balancer and flywheel if you end up not needing them. Doing a similar build and have not been able to locate an OEM IDIT balancer or flywheel. Of course IDIBRONCO should have first choice if he needs those...
Yeah, I just really like the insurance of the the turbo rods. If for some reason I get to 350 at least I know they can handle it. I have a set of the turbo rods I would like use so it's just a matter of getting the pistons and rings. Anybody have a good source for the rings? I was looking at...
Thanks for the info Wes. I would really like to get to at least 300 HP with this build. Thank you for this forum, access do this kind of information is invaluable!
Thanks Russ. Since I was adding upgrades to the motor (turbo, upgraded IP)I liked the thought of having the stouter turbo rods and wrist pins. I'm not committed one way or the other at this point. The n/a rods and pistons I removed are in great shape. I don't plan on horsebeating this motor but...
Thanks you guys. The machinist I talked with mentioned modifying the original flywheel and balancer to work with the upgrades. Sounds like the way to go, especially since those particular parts off a factory IDIT are hard to find
I would like to run factory turbo rods and pistons in my n/a block. Will I need a different harmonic balancer and flywheel? i heard they used a differnt balancer and flywheel on the factory IDIT motor .I'm planning on having the entire rotating assembly balanced as well. Thanks!
Hope this helps, but I was able reset my timing gear without taking the front cover off by placing a small inspection mirror where the gears meet. It took some work to find the right angle on the mirror ,but I was able to clock the gears properly . It helped to use a flashlight .
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I have fixed a few electrical problems with a good whack!lol. I'll check out my headlight switch in the dash next and see if that shows me something.
Could that Hi/Low beam switch somehow effect the dash lights as well. Just recently, I hit the switch and found out I have no lights at all when trying for Hi beams. I do have the Lo beams working when switching back. Weird thing is I lost all dash lights when this started and they have not...
Thanks for the heads up. I don't know the history of the rods as I bought them used, and not all the rods are from one motor. Good idea to have them spec'd out to make sure though
I have a set of turbo rods I will be fitting up with new pistons and would like to change out the all the bushings. Everything I come across is for NA application. I know the OEM turbo pistons have a bigger pin diameter but none of the sites I searched differentiated between the NA and Turbo...
Hey Wes, this is something I would like to do on both of my trucks. It's great you have gone through the trouble of sourcing the right parts . Love the sump set up. My question is since the tank sets below the frame rails will it clear the mounts for a receiver hitch. Taking a quick look at mine...
This is exactly what I am working on now as well . IDIT rods and pistons for my NA block. Like Wes said getting everything balanced on the rotating assembly is important. Also found, through some of Justins posts on FTE, you can use the PS rod bearings on the IDIT rods . It gives you more...
