So much poor information in that video...
Prices on older trucks are based on nothing but emotion.
Obd2 was a huge step forward in making cars much easier to scan/diagnose. Ever scan anything pre obd2?... With your box of different connectors....and keys for said connectors. Scan tools then...
The seals marked that way are refering to leaving the sealing lip dry. Like no oil.
Silicone is for the od of the seal, if the bore that the seal goes into is rough, may need a little silicone. Takes very little.
Im sure you will get the results you are after at really light throttle and really flat ground. Add any load and it is pretty surprising how far an idi will push a c6 converter with the gear vendor engaged.
Add a trans temp gauge.
Have used most all types over the years, but always ultra grey when it mattered. Lots of silicones seem to dry up over time, and get hard. Some eventually come unstuck from the metal. Also have taken enough stuff apart over the years to see the difference.
With the engine out of the truck, and both surfaces clean and dry, ultra grey 100% of the time.
With the engine still in the truck, I will use the gasket, and with silicone in the right places wont leak.
I always figured it was for cylinder wear. Cylinders at the corners of the engine always seem to wear more, because they are cooler. that is what I have always been told...?
If you end up not having good pressure at the other port, put some air (with a rubber tip blowgun) to either one of the ports (with the other plugged) and you should hear if an internal plug or piston oiler fell out.
You did what you needed to to help out. But planning on pulling that load with the ram (single wheel even!) Is in my opinion dumb, and I have been dumb before and I am very familiar with how it looks...
The reason that only the top 2 bolts of a 460 bell line up, is the rest of them go all the way through and thread into the block. Ford made the top 2 460 pattern, just crazy that the other for are that close to 460 pattern.
You say below the alt.....look closely at the fuel pump, not uncommon for the bolts to loosen up, and if it has been replaced in the last couple years, very common to leak oil out of the weep hole on the pump.
I remember saying awhile back that the 460 t19 bell wouldnt work for redrilling the 6.9 7.3 pattern, because the one that I had wouldnt work for sure......
Well, aquired a few different bells (all alum hydraulic bells, and the 460 and idi bells are the same casting. The 460 bell for sure could...
Kdp will be taken care of, probably going to reseal the engine, since it has been sitting many years. Plan on leaving all tuning as stock, as to get to enjoy all that 160/400 has to offer for a bit. Easy enough to adjust the power level later.
These ve pump engines have always impressed me...
