Heated up and it still cra
Heated it up and it's still broke at the base when I pulled it. I have a new one on the way. A question regarding the dipstick, I want to reinstall the oil pan and have the surfaces ready to go. I am reading that I need to install the dipstick first before I put the...
Thanks how about the dipstick oring location? Is that where it meets the pan? Anything to note here? I heard they leak from here and are of pain to access while the engine is installed
Could you guys help me locate exactly where these go? The bottom right gasket with blue seems to go on the oil cooler but mine isnt shaped like that or I cant find that spot. Did they make more than one type? Which of these is the oil pick up tube gasket and where is that located? I know one or...
Got the heads resurfaced for peace of mind. I had my .003" feeler gauge go under the straight edge in more places than I felt comfy with. I got the the front plate off to make installing that seal easier. The kit I bought came with with gaskets for the front plate as well as the water pump so...

Reviving this one - I am getting very differing opinions on whether this seal pictured is installed correctly or backwards. I have this exact seal, the way it is installed in this picture would point the lips facing towards the transmission. Other...
I cleaned it up with a wire brush attached to my angle grinder, it helped with a lot of the those previous gaps but some are still present. I noticed that when i lay the straight edge over any areas of the precups it caused the gauge to get stuck or go under. Those dont seem monolithic with the...
Did the light method as well and it shines through. I know there is visual build up but I've scraped off everything with a razor blade and engine cleaner to the point that it feels smooth on the fingers.
Looking like my heads are are warped. Some sources say the tolerance is .003 others say .006 I feel like I've cleaned the surface really good. How much can minimal left over build up affect these readings?
I think I'm going to move forward with looking for a sleeve for the crankshaft rear seal. I might also need one for the front. If anyone has the right part number or a good manufacturer I'd appreciate it.
Also, does anyone know if I need to mess with the IP at all if I remove the front seal...
Thanks. Any easy way of removing the sleeve? Looks to be on pretty tight.
Also having a lot of trouble with installing the seals front and rear. Any good ways to get this in? I've seen the methods with a press but I don't have one
A couple of question -
1. Am I supposed to add RTV to the rear main seal housing on top of the gasket? Please see pic
2. I noticed a groove with my finger on the harmonic pulley rear side (not sure what that's specifically called) I have heard that you're supposed to use a sleeve if that is...
