Timkens are good. Bearings are one thing to NOT skimp on, even though the price for offbrand bearings may look appealing.
Glad your alright Brian. Good thing that didn't happen on your camping trip up north last winter. That would have been worse than dead glowplugs lol
That was me a few years back. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't heat up until I removed Chinese thermostat the PO installed. Can't believe it broke like that.
You can also remove that ball bearing in thermostat housing if you wish. I did and didn't notice much difference with it out.
I think the torque specs for those bolts are 47 ft. Lbs.
Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them all if one let go. And make sure you put sealant on those bolt threads as well
A lot of people run good old fashioned chevron delo for 8-10k miles including me with my 6.7 psd. I change it when the truck tells me it's due for a service which is typically around 8-9k miles.
Oil nowadays is far more impressive than what people think IMO. You don't necessarily need a...
Go buy a couple quarts of VC9 from a ford dealership. Follow instructions to the dot and it'll get your cooling system completely clean. I've used it with excellent results. It's not cheap but the only flush that actually works as advertised.
Chances are you will need a new injection pump and injectors. Doing that alone will really wake up your truck. Get it properly timed as well.
I wouldn't waste your time getting original injectors pop tested.
You gotta ask yourself.....would your truck run without an injection system or a...
Yeah that was the worst year of the 6.0. My pops blew up his 03 f250 work truck in about 20k. He left it at the restaurant and walked to work lol. He got tired of bringing it back to shop all the time.
Can't tell you how many people I know with those 6.0h sh*ts and all have dumped stupid gobs...
The clutch oil will thin out when engine warms up, making fan clutch spin over by hand easier when engine is off. Once engine hits a certain temp when running, the clutch will lock up engaging the fan to pull air.
Probably didn't explain it very well in previous post. Sorry for confusion
Actually if your fan clutch is doing what's described here, it's probably working properly. It's when the fan clutch spins easy when cold is when you know you have a problem. Also inspect the bearing seal on fan clutch. If it's wore, you'll see an oily mess which means it leaked out its internal...
Shit that could have been bad with sparks n all. Although not as combustible as gasoline, once diesel lights up, it burns hot and hard to put out.
Glad nothing catastrophic happened
Running waste oils is a gamble with these engines. They will run on just about anything, but for how long is uncertain. Really depends on your filtration setup.
I ran my truck on filtered WATF for about a year until bad things started to happen. It eventually ruined all my injectors and coked...
That'll do the trick! Doesn't look half bad I don't think.
At least you have a use for them unlike those tank top flip flop cummins owners who just love their 10ft side mirrors with nothing hooked up to the receiver hitch but a chrome pair of dangling testicles.
^^^All good points above. I wouldn't worry too much about those temps. My 6.7 psd transmission always runs at 200-210 at a daily basis. Did that new with 30 miles on odometer from dealership, now over 100k and runs same temps.
Servicing the transmission may help some, and if you don't have an...
