Been using this stuff for years and never had a leak. Works great on threads
Not true. You will crack those cast iron cylinder heads if you have excessive egt's. I accidentally ran about 1500 on my new engine for about 30-45 seconds. The new .030 aluminum pistons were fine for some reason, and showed no signs of damage, but I cracked my heads in about 30 different places...
If you found that in your oil filter, time to tear it down. That engine is on borrowed time. See if you can post some pics as well.
Like you previously thought, when you changed out the injector and it still made a knock, that rules out the possibility of it being an injector problem if it was...
Gotta say I haven't been all that impressed with Delphi injectors in the past. Had a brand new set that lasted about 10k miles. Had them pop tested and 4 were bad leakers. The other 4 were all over the board and the spray pattern sucked.
Ended up buying a set of new D code stanadyne injectors...
Haha tell that to the wife. We will be making a visit to the dealership & picking up a suburban when the time comes for that lol. That's what it has to be & no changing her mind on that one unfortunately.
Had a double 5 micron filter setup when I was burning WATF back in college years ago. Seemed to filter pretty well but there would be a lot of black sediment on bottoms of my 5 gal tanks, so it wasn't getting all the crap out.
I eventually ruined all 8 injectors, IP, & carboned up precups so...
PM Russ aka typ4. He rebuilt my 088 and did a fantastic job on it. I had a stock wheel and my rig would put out 13 psi. I believe he offers a wicked wheel for it as well.
Don't mean to be that kind of guy, but why ruin the hood to help aid an existing problem when what you really need to do is replace the injection pump. Heatsoak is only common if you have a junk IP that needs to be rebuilt/replaced.
Don't see how that would help your starting issue. And no...
Absolutely not. Ask me how I know all this already. Your valves will mushroom if they are recessed too much & not within factory specs.
Been there done that.
Sounds like you have a big problem that needs to be addressed. I've had similar problems in the past. You need to pull the heads off that engine to see what's going on. I can bet that the valves are hitting pistons.
I would verify that you have normal oil pressure at high rpms. If it's...
