A reason to Go Parts Shopping @ The Yards

I don't know how puredieselpower stays in business. They're sky high on everything I've ever checked.

    oil pressure warning

You can get a gauge from auber instruments which can be programmed to close a relay when it goes below a certain pressure. I would install it, see what normal is, and then program it. Mounting location has a lot to do with the pressure you'll be reading as "normal."

How do you guys think she's running?

Your glowplugs might disintegrate, but likely all it would cost you is a set of glowplugs. It does not sound too advanced to me. After timing mine with one of Gary's meters, I couldn't believe how clattery it was, especially with cold advance on (timed to 9.5 deg BTDC). I don't hear hardly...

How not to do an engine swap (my 12 valve Cummins into 97 F-350 thread)

Cummins had some of their blocks and heads cast by International. Rumor has it that they are the strongest due to a higher nickel content. Kinda neat though.

How not to do an engine swap (my 12 valve Cummins into 97 F-350 thread)

So, if I may ask for some advice. The head gasket. I have a head gasket that came with the gasket set. It is not leaking to my knowledge, and the oil and coolant were clean. I’m a believer in not fixing things that aren’t broken. However, having seen the high quality of the work on the...

How not to do an engine swap (my 12 valve Cummins into 97 F-350 thread)

Ok, well, I’ve spent a while waiting on shipping for my front engine lift bracket. Finally came in Friday, and the engine was out about two hours later. I had a heck of a time even finding some of the bolts that hold the motor mounts in under all the grease. My new hoist worked pretty well...

    Fan clutch and cold AC

I've never messed with my fuel settings either, but on the hills I have to really watch my exhaust temp. Foot to the floor, pouring out black smoke and I'm usually backing out pretty soon. However, you made it, I assume your engine still runs great so it must have been ok. And a nice working...

A roaring fan is pretty nice to hear. Do you have a pyro?

    Flexible intake pipe to turbo

Bent/welded aluminum or stainless, or powder coated mild steel (don't want rust on the inside of the pipe). Or, if you don't have a tubing bender and tig welder (I do not), piece it together with straight pipe and silicone elbows and flexible straight connectors.

    Flexible intake pipe to turbo

I wouldn't run the flexible stuff - every one I have seen has very small holes in it where it flexes. On an exhaust its not much of a problem, but on the vacuum side of an air filter you'll be sucking dust. I have never understood using PVC or ABS on an intake, or really anywhere under the...

clutch push rod heim joint mod

My new 97 is not exactly an example of how to do things right, but the clutch works fine. Here is what it looks like I will likely replace it with the OEM setup or maybe a heim joint if it ever gives me trouble, but if it isn't broke I'm not fixing it. Could work for you in a pinch.

Wheel, suspension, and Dana 60 questions

I pulled a front wheel off my truck and unfortunately you're right :frustrate:frustrate:frustrate There are no recessed areas around the studs for the raised lip of the wheel face to fit into. However, the hub diameter appears to be perfect for the wheel, so if I were to grind off the raised...

Body lift, body mount, and steering shaft questions

Well I'm looking to put a body lift on the 97. At least 1", probably 2", maybe up to 3". I did one on my 94 and the hardest part was making the shifter boot fit. I think I'll fix it this time around by making an extension bolt to the transmission end, between it and the shifter itself. I'm...

    Clutch HELP!!

Have you pulled it out to do it on the bench instead of in the truck? How did air get in? When I did mine I just left the slave hanging, reinstalled and kept going.

How not to do an engine swap (my 12 valve Cummins into 97 F-350 thread)

The turbo blades definitely seem to be off center. Obviously if it was out of round it would have flown apart. Maybe the housing is egg shaped or something? On one side, I can’t get a small screwdriver in between the blades and the housing. On the other, I can. I had noticed that...

Wheel, suspension, and Dana 60 questions

I just bought a set of what I think are factory wheels for my 97. They have around a 5.4" offset which is what my research has led me to believe the cab and chassis trucks came with, and is the largest offset available in factory wheels. They appear to be hub centric, I put two on my rear axle...

    >>> FAN SOLUTION FOR YOU FORD GUYS <<<

PM sent requesting more info - I couldn't find Flex-A-Lite part number 1819. This may be a very promising discovery for me.

How not to do an engine swap (my 12 valve Cummins into 97 F-350 thread)

I think I know why the exhaust manifold cracked. The exhaust is completely unsupported between the turbo and about two feet in front of the rear axle. That’s a lot of weight when most of it is 4.” When your battery cable rubs through on the frame, and melts down, its nothing 8 miles of...

How not to do an engine swap (my 12 valve Cummins into 97 F-350 thread)

Didn’t get much done this weekend. I got the turbo and exhaust manifold off. Does the turbo drain tube normally have a hose clamp on both ends of it, or just the bottom? The hose was really rotted, and just tore off, so it may have been one of the sources of the oil leaks. I think the plate...

    Idle Fuel Consumption

Occasionally I have idled down some long grades, some 10-15 miles long, using my sf-5 to slow me down and giving it no throttle. This is in summer, and when I do give it throttle at the end of the grade it blows enough white smoke that I don't think I'd let it idle for an extended period. It's...

what size intercooler pipe to use?

I'd run 2 inch for simplicity. Yes, you would have less restriction running 3" but as you said would have more volume in the system to pressurize. With a 2" restriction on there already it won't make much difference IMO.

92-97 ford diesl core support with a/c

Well I'm sure the LMC one can't fit that well. Aftermarket is always a little worse than OEM at least with a big part like this with lots of fastening points - hard to beat one stamped with the Ford logo. How difficult/expensive was shipping?

    auxilery fuel tank

I was going to offer to sell you mine - but I want a lot more than $100. Thats a steal. One thing to consider, I would not use this as a supply tank unless you put some kind of sump in it, and the supply and return come out of this sump. Problem is, with a big flat tank like that, you've...
