There are a lot of threads on here telling people to simply replace their steering shaft with a Borgeson or Flaming Rivers shaft for $290-$350. On my truck, the sliding part of the steering shaft is in excellent condition. So, here we go:
This is much easier with the power steering pump moved...
It's an actual hole through the wall of the cylinder. If piston was at tdc, I would guess it isn't cavitation. But you should inspect the bores regardless. I don't know if it is likely to happen below bdc. Hopefully someone else can opine.
No help on the machine shop. I grew up in North...
You should have put the piston at tdc on those cylinders and reran the leakdown. You may have cavitation holes in the cylinder wall. Now you'll have to do a visual on the bores.
Does the piston in number 1 look steam cleaned? Hard to tell from the pic. Did you pull the block drains before...
Message type4 for a return line kit or hit up Conestoga diesel.
I have a dozen oreilleys within 20 miles so I have the option of going to the one that builds cables. That would be my preference for a cable. Have it built. Shouldn't be expensive.
I would use fumes off a gas soaked rag before squirting diesel in the intake. Don't let it get too big a whiff as diesel rpms are only controlled by the amount of fuel fed to the engine. Remember to disconnect the glow plug relay
Kat's 11605 600 Watt 38mm Frost Plug Heater fit in my block. I only had to install it twice because it leaked the first time. I vote for installer error.
You mean the fuel supply system? I already detailed how to bleed the injection lines. Since air is very compressible, it is really important to get as much out of the hard lines as you can.
Run your electric pump until you have a solid stream returning to your temp fuel container. Press...
16 ounces of chemicals that likely aren't even a concern in 1000 ounces of coolant. Mostly water, ammonia, a little soap, some dye. I wouldn't think twice about reusing the coolant.
Let us know what the radiator shop says. It looks normal to me but one pic looks like it has calcium build...
I should add, it would be a good idea to pull the glow plugs and spin the motor in case there are any liquids in there. The cowl seal dumps water onto the air cleaner when it gets old and cracked. You might want to search on here for wd 40 as a starting fluid. It looks like it is new and...
If your goal is to make it make diesel noises so you can pour money into it, you need oil and an alternative fuel. I haven't used wd40 as a starting fluid.
If you want to do more, you need your glow plugs working (or two really good batteries and a good starter you're willing to toast). The...
Battery. Oil and filter. Tiniest shot of ether in the air filter inlet. Look! She runs. I think I might hold a gas soaked rag near the air filter inlet first. The sound of my engine starting on ether makes my teeth hurt. Do disconnect your glowplug controller if using alternative starting...
Which is the problem? Ignition switch is much easier to replace. Replace it and make up a jumper that will go from your batt to your injection pump. Then when the actuator goes out, you can get to the parts store and get a new one from the help! section.
I wouldn't get either part from the...
Oddly enough, this thread just below yours shows the actuator rod and pot metal lever in the video.

Are you sure the fixed column has a different ignition switch from the tilt? If it is the same switch, it is screwed to the top of the column with two nuts. It is adjustable up and down so you can clock it to the key positions.. There is an actuator rod into it that is pushed by a crappy...
If anyone needs a code, it's 5082053219759088. Good until November 13th. Who knows, maybe you want to order one of the closeout motorcraft fan clutches they have. Or the $1.57 belts.
If you're still looking for a compression tester, these worked for me. tooldiscounter was where I ordered them. I did have a problem with the gauge itself being bad on the tester but they did sort me out.

Fan clutch on my 86 is TU. Temp gauge randomly pegging. With the gauge far to the right, I can see the fan is spinning a lot slower than the pulley. I can slowly stop the clutch with a few paper towels.
We have lots of options it seems.
Motorcraft clutch. It looks like the P/N is...
My ranger bypass valve made a measurable difference in A/C temp by way of a digital thermometer. If my compressor didn't decide to blow its shaft seal this winter, I'd give you exact numbers.
LCAM is right about the valves leaking at the shaft. My cherokee uses the same design and randomly...
