    Swapping a 7.3 IDI to a 6BT 12 Valve Cummins

Idi and 7.3 powerstroke use the same transmission bolt pattern, transmissions are interchangeable if you change solinoid pack, converter, and change lock up from pwm to on/off.

    Lets play guess that sound!

Unfortunately the marks are only ballpark to make it run. It needs to be timed with a meter. That being said you can adjust it to see if it improves. Put a set of marks so you can return it to where you are now. Adjust your pump a dimes width at a time (this is about 4 degrees). Towards...

    Cavitation or head gasket

Retorque the head and see if it changes. May or may not give you a better idea of what’s going on, but it’s a place to start.

    7.3 IDI Noise

Do you think it may be an exhaust leak being it goes away after heating it up and then comes back when it cools? I’d get a flashlight and look for soot around manifolds, uppipes, turbo mount flange Etc

    Fram Air Hog Air Filter...

The Air Hog is a cleanable filter very much like the K&N. They flow well but you sacrifice filtering and often cause excessive compressor wheel wear. Most recommend a quality paper filter and change it when needed.

Try to start it, if it doesn’t start check fuel pressure at schrader valve on filter head. If you have fuel pressure check for fuel out of injector pump. If you have no or low fuel pressure, (should get 1/3 of pint in about 10 seconds cranking) connect fuel line to inlet of fuel pump and stick...

Dash pad what is that stuff

You can go to an automotive paint supply and they usually have vinyl paint in spray cans to match your interior color. May have to settle for close match but usually it’s an improvement over what you have.

    Smoke coming out by pedals

Pine straw in fan housing under hood. The resistor for fan speed gets very hot and is smoking your pine needles. Pull out the blower motor and clean out housing, should solve your problem.

Dash pad what is that stuff

It looks like a spray on vinyl paint that was used to hide cracks, could even be flex seal.If it’s dried and not tacky you may be better off buying a vinyl paint and doing the whole pad instead of trying to remove what’s there.

    Extended Idle Time.....

Here’s some thoughts on it. IS IT OKAY TO IDLE A DIESEL? You’ve likely heard that diesel engines are ok to idle indefinitely, and that it’s even good for them. Where does this logic come from, and is it true? Diesel Pickup Specialists, Inc in Inman, KS has the answers. The truth of the matter...

You probably have crud from deteriorated fuel pickups in tanks. Mine would starve and die then start after 15 or 20 minutes. Check fuel pressure at filter head from both tanks. Blow air through the fuel line back to the tank, (15lbs normally works) switch tanks so your blowing out lines to both...

    E4OD to zf5 swap 1990 F350

Can you measure the length of your e4od then the length of zf5 subtract the difference (I’m believing the zf5 is longer) and measure drive shaft you have and subtract that number. Should give you proper length. (If zf5 is shorter add difference)
