just trying to be of some help. Not everyone understands how these systems work. Nice thing about IDI , if you have power for the pump and fuel they normally will run.
The engine temp switch which controls high idle and cold advance is a different one the engine temp one for the gauges. I would check and see if you have power to the solenoid with key one and cold. I do believe you are getting the code 13 in error, as I have state the computer has no...
A couple of things, reading codes on these only deals with the automatic transmission. The IDI is not a computer controlled engine, so you will never get any engine codes.
The high idle ,do you have power to it with the key on, if so you set it by when you first turn key on push the throttle...
Was working on my 99 PSD while back and noticed the EGR tube is rotted in to . So question is how important is it , something need to order parts for and fix?
Thanks
This is for a 7.3, but you might find it useful for your situation. Thinking the 6.9 would be the same. Think also it would be best starting and running wise to have things hooked up right. Even for just an old farm truck.
You will have to pull the engine or transmission for the rear main. But rear mains don't leak that often so I would make 100% sure that was the problem before doing it.
The thing about a "Genuine kit is that a lot of the parts are not made by Ford . There are only a few lifter makers, bearing makers and such that Ford has built and stamped for them.
Change the rely and trucks starts like it should. Didn't do the White Rodgers , didn't have time to wait and need the truck for work. Tore the old one apart and could see that it was bad with not doubt. Will have to order the White one for down the road.
I have also read that the turbo block where less prone to that problem , I can't verify that though. I little more money , but there is nothing wrong with sleeving an engine. I had a N/A the I did three of the rear ones. Didn't cost me much being we had a machine shop.
What type of truck are you dealing with ? It will not overload it unless you have a lot of light on the trailer. older trucks they where always wired into the main rear wiring harness.
Little rough, a lot of body work needs to be done. Do need or want the 4x4 compared to a dually. Probably out the gate going to have less cost in it getting it home. I would make a offer though and see what he will say.
My personal opinion. Batteries are probably a lot of your start problems they have to spin good to start. Check all fluids. get it started and warmed up good and see how it restarts and sounds. One thing about an IDI , got fuel and power to run pump they will run. 5 hrs is not a long trip , take...
