If you have a manual transmission...... no one's gonna steal it...... if its an odd ball truck like say......idk.... a 1986 ford diesel, no one's gonna steal it..... now, if you drive a 2015 White Toyota Taco.......everyone is going to steal it...... but yeah, put a switch on the shut off...
I bet your hearing the gear roll over noise. It's more of a low speed 1,2,3 thing....... itll sound like its coming apart sometimes. Just make sure to only use a high quality ATF in that ZF5..... don't use gear oil whatever you do..... or you WILL start hearing bad bearing noise.....and...
Yes, the diesel ZF5 and the T19 have the same external slave cylinder. Other than a U joint and a flywheel/clutch/pressure plate, the ZF5 is "plug and play".....the ZF5 issue is first and reverse are too high.
Truck looks excellent, thats a great tranny option too!..... wayyyyy better than a C6, and it'll be super easy to ZF5 swap it if you decide to!
Edit: if you're south Alabama, im in Crestview Florida and have a ZF5 id part with if you're interested. Im moving pretty soon and am trying to...
Most of us alternate fuel junkies on here do waste motor oil..... I'm not sure anyone does the WVO..... look up PA Biodiesel. The guy that owns that used to be a regular on here(he hasn't logged in in about 2yrs)and he does it all as well as sells the equipment for processing. He drives an IDI...
At the very base of the rod that you move with the shifter lever, there's a plate that the cable attaches to. That plate has 2-3 torx bolts that wiggle loose.... they're EXTREMELY difficult to get at. The other thing thats common is, that if you pull the plastic off the steering column behind...
I just thought the "groping for locals other than a 'diesel auto shop' list" was great...... a grape farmer with a 1520 JD would definitely be more helpful than a ASE certified "Duramax expert"......
It does take a while to bleed the system. If you got a Manuel transmission and a buddy to pull you around it takes like 300yds to prime the system and its easier on your starter, batteries, and, patience......other than that if your mechanical pump is pumping, and it runs fine after you finally...
I'm calling it that the sender is reading bad unless you got fuel on the ground from the vent leaking..... or possibly the gauge itself..... sounds interesting, keep us posted!
It's definitely the skid plate collecting not just salt, but rocks, dirt, debris, that grind off the POR15 and allow the salt to eat it.
How about doing a tank in the bed? And eliminating the potential of salt and rot under the bed?
They carry some obscure stuff that isn't haven't found anywhere else as well......specifically im thinking of the replacement plastic gliders that go on the arms that lift the back glass on a bronco.....Bronco Graveyard was the ONLY place I found them.
