    Diagnosing no start...

and @ franklin 2, my friend came later (in another cummins.... dodge boys were barkin all day at me =P) and we tried jumping it again, but this time gave it more time to charge. We did notice that his alternator did'nt start making any noise at all the entire time, normally you sort of hear...

    Diagnosing no start...

schrader wasnt getting any fuel at all, just air came out... and by fuel guages not working, I mean the reading is constantly changing. back tank got me roughly 240 miles when I bought it, never ran the front tank until now, cause those 240 miles are all the miles I've tacked on since I bought...

    Diagnosing no start...

So I drove my truck around to do something for my job, and I started getting the running out of fuel symptom of the motor surging like its got twice the power (neither tanks fuel guage works -_-), so I quickly switched tanks, and it eventually smoothed out. Got back to work and it sat for about...

Finally got some pics of the new truck

At an idle, under the hood I can just tap the IP throttle and watch the foam nearly get ripped down into the engine. Can only imagine what it looked like screaming down the freeway with those tiny tires and 4.10s \ I want to run a custom setup using the factory intake bowl, but run a Y...

Finally got some pics of the new truck

And quite honestly I think the underside of that CB mount will work nicely for the Explorer overhead console if I can mod it to sit on a flat surface :)

Finally got some pics of the new truck

No kidding! I have yet to find any rust on the frame, mainly because theres oil all over it. Only rust so far is surface on a few parts (like the brake caliper in the above pic) and the exhaust. Can't wait to do the exhaust after I get it running right, My old 84 had a 4" mandrel bent system...

    fuel in oil?

DesertBen44 here also has a really good write up on installing a quality electric lift pump in the tech articles. It completely deletes the lift pump, and you use a small block chevy lift pump eliminator cover to cover the hole your now gone mechanical pump will leave, and in doing so you will...

Finally got some pics of the new truck

I guess you could say such, I know its in pretty dang good condition, I'm just mostly disappointed how it runs. My old 84 that I only paid $1k for had damn near a brand new engine it seemed, zero blow-by, started first time every time with less than a seconds cranking, and for having 3.55 gears...

Finally got some pics of the new truck

Thank you! was wondering if it had something to do with the mystery switch and light bulb down there. -__-

Finally got some pics of the new truck

Here she is, my new 86 F-250. After some digging, I'm disappointed in my $900 purchase. You'll see why, I should have paid more attention to detail. OUCH, but easily fixable. Decent interior. Nice deck already installed. Very clean CB mount, sadly the CB does not...

What would you do in this situation?

In theory the most I would need to change is a down pipe and get new exhaust, but the manifolds, mounting pedestal, waste gate as well as the turbo itself would be the same wouldn't it?

What would you do in this situation?

Yeah, I know alot of people boosted (pardon me if "boosted" is a term that is not proper etiquette for a diesel engine lol, a lot of my friends are Honda guys so the word is very common to me) these engines to really get HP, but if I'm right, they werent originally DESIGNED for boost, which is...

What would you do in this situation?

So, my friend came across a 6.9 powered RV for free, I guess a relative gave it to him to just get rid of it. The engine has a thrown rod, but it has the ATS (he thinks) turbo kit on it, and it ran fine before the rod gave. My guess is the rod went due to the turbo, being that these engines...

How much blow by is acceptable?

Thanks, I'm gonna change the oil soon within a couple weeks, I'm cancelling my insurance tomorrow so it will be just parked, not gonna harm it. We will see the results after the change.

How much blow by is acceptable?

So the 86 I just bought, as I discovered yesterday, has quite a bit of blow by at an idle. I take the oil fill cap off and boom, lot of smoke. Rev the engine, it goes almost completely away. At an idle, the blow by is so bad its coming out of my oil dipstick tube, with the dipstick fully in...
