underhood air intake
I did an experiment on this a while back and did a write up on another forum. The Test vehicle is my 4 Door Bronco with a 7.3 and I think the results are very telling for what you are asking about. Understand, it's not a perfect experiment, but still pretty good...- smooth

The best I have is this: It's where the up-pipe flange bolts to the Turbo. I appreciate the help regarding the gasket, I'd been wasting a lot of time looking for it. I'll see about getting back there and seeing what the bolts look like. The good news is, I am confident the leak is there...- smooth

Ya, intercooler is definitely on the list of things to do, of course I'll need to find one first and then go from there. My pump turn around was very quick. I'm guessing since Mel is working off cores he already has instead of rebuilding the one I sent in that speeds things up. I think it was...- smooth

Looking for a Banks Turbo Gasket, any suggestions?
So, my pre-sidewinder Banks turbo has an exhaust leak where the Y-pipe flange bolts to the Turbo. I haven't pulled it off yet, but I imagine I'm going to find a blown gasket. Any suggestions on where to find/make a replacement? Thanks, MoMo- smooth

banks kit shift cable problem
If you are talking about what I think you are, I ran into the same problem. Here are two pics for how I fixed the problem. The metal 'tore' a little when I bent it, so I welded up the cracks before reinstalling it. It was a pain, but it works fine. Sorry I don't have any pictures...- smooth

Older Banks pros/cons
I've really enjoyed mine. Like you mentioned, mine doesn't spool fast. In fact, around town, I barely get above 1-2 lbs., but at highway speed, on the inclines, it's a nice additive. It fun to watch boost roll up with little in the way of additional pedal/RPM's. Mine currently tops out...- smooth

HELP! Vacuum pump/booster issue!
Sorry, I replaced it already. The good news is, I had the truck running while I was under the dash unbolting it, and I could hear the air leak. So, definitely was the problem, just really weird that that remaned vacuum pump went and then the booster went (probably already had a slow leak...- smooth

I'll check the pushrod today as I'm removing the booster, but I never removed it as long as I've owned the truck, so if it is, the PO may have done it. As for the lbs. v. inches, sorry, I couldn't remember which it is. So, once the booster is out, is there anyway to determine it is bad...- smooth

It was pulling 19-20 lbs at idle, I had heard 21 was bare minimum. Plus, my cruise would work, but couldn't hold the speed under load (i.e. going up even a slight incline, the speed would slowly drop off and eventually drop out of cruise) so I figured the vacuum pump was going.
