No start - dead batt
Joe, Check your charging system for output. Pigtail A and F on wire connector off the voltage regulator for alternator output, do this for a very short while to determine full voltage output of alt. My glow plug control unit went south on me but didn't go bad totally it short itself out...- Scott

Electric fuel pump on IDI????
Fuel system Next check for fuel delivery through the fuel filter. On 6.9 engines this is checked at the 3/16" hose barb on the fuel filter outlet elbow, and on 7.3 at the fuel filter orifice/return line fitting or restricted filter sensor port. If checking either at the filter return line...- Scott

My 89 E-350 7.3L Diesel with the E40D trans has been very dependable for 10 years now. Mechanics on it is excellent but the body needs some tlc. I need info on scan tools for the trans. Glowplug Tick tock
Your glow plug control unit runs on the temperture sending unit. On a hot engine the glow plug unit stays on for 7-15 seconds, on a cold engine it stays on longer. I have the specs. but don't have them handy right now, dieselman's page gives good specs. on idi and newer diesels. I just...- Scott

I have been looking for some info on the E40D trans for 89 E-350 for a few days. There are no band adjustments for this tranny, the only thing I have found is that the trans is computer controlled. E40D Not Locking Up
I don't understand your problem but I just replaced my injection pump in my 89 E-350 with the 7.3L and E40D trans. My 3rd gear seems to be sluggish once it engages but seems fine around 35 to 40 mph. There's a website called dieselman's page which is very helpful on specs. and adjustments...- Scott
