    Temperature Sender / Sensor

No one ever posted the part number for the overheat sensor? I need one for my '88 F250 7.3 IDI. No one knows its part number?

1988 7.3 IDI Temperature Gauge Problem

Sure enough worked, so is a redundant system and sending unit has failed. Thanks, Austin86250. Will probably replace that sensor anyway, just because. Would anyone have the correct part number for this lower simple off/on switch that closes on overheat condition only?

1988 7.3 IDI Temperature Gauge Problem

The temperature gauge is not the problem.

1988 7.3 IDI Temperature Gauge Problem

All of a sudden the red 'ENGINE' check light has come on and the temperature gauge is pegged at extreme 'H' (hot) end of the scale. My F250 is running normally (not overheating) so I'm pretty sure either a sensor has failed or some other problem has occurred causing these indicators to...

Possible air intrusion when parked uphill?

Thank you, Cubey and TNBrett. I believe I do understand the process now. You've made sense of it for me. Much appreciated!

Possible air intrusion when parked uphill?

Three questions if you please: 1. So if I understand correctly, the lift pump normally supplies more fuel than the injection pump requires and that excess fuel simply flows back to the tank through a return line. One would think an alternative to this constant circulation of the...

Looking for a Western Washington 7.3 IDI mechanic for regular maintenance

You might try Paul at Custom Auto Inc in Elma Washington. He and his son Ben did quite a lot of work on my 1988 4x4 F250 IDI that I didn't have time to do. They did a fine job in a timely manner and seemed to even enjoy having it to work on. https://www.facebook.com/customauto88/

    6.9 IDI Burning Oil Excessively

My 7.3 with unknown history burns a quart per tank (fill-up). As well as it runs, I never thought to make that an issue. I have not looked to see whether the intake manifold is wet.

    Safe running rpm

I sort of hijacked your thread, sorry. I guess I really meant to ask what the (governed) factory RPM limit on these engines is, from anybody on the forum.

    Safe running rpm

What is the governed speed on the 6.9 in the 7.3 non-turbo, anyway?

Help Narrowing Down 1988 F-250 7.3 IDI N/A Slipping Clutch Cause

After all these years, might you remember which LUK part number you installed? I'm just now trying to make sure I buy the correct/best LUK product. Thanks.

Help Narrowing Down 1988 F-250 7.3 IDI N/A Slipping Clutch Cause

There are a huge number of LUK SMF's that purport to fit my truck. Which LUK part # do you recommend? I'm guessing the LUK 07-225. Is that the 12" clutch that's been recommended? Thanks.

Help Narrowing Down 1988 F-250 7.3 IDI N/A Slipping Clutch Cause

Thank you. Will go with the LUK option. One last question -- I'm old enough now that I can't bench press a transmission anymore. What transmission jack will work/fit the best for the ZF in my truck? I do not have a hoist in my shop, so truck will be at ground level.
