Need help with gear selector please!
Thank you to everyone that tried to help me with this. I finally took it to a tranny shop and found the old shaft was bad and that my repair was good. However, the outer plastic sheath broke on the shift cable allowing it to flex and bind. I thought I would post this in case someone else...- Nut Tree

Horn Problems
I put the ground probe of my meter on the negative battery terminal and the positive to one side of the fuse while it was in the box and got 12v. Then I touched the positive probe to the other side and got 12v. Then, just to be sure I was doing it right, I pulled the fuse and looked at it to see...- Nut Tree

OK, thanks. Sounds like it might be the solution, especially since the key releases when the lever is pushed all the way to the left - what should be park. Makes me think you guys are onto something - that the problem is now at the trans end. Man I love the members of this site!- Nut Tree

Need help with gear selector please!
OK, is that the lever on the side of the tranny? I can reach up and manually click it back one gear with the cable attached. Tomorrow, I'll try to get someone to run it through the gears while I lay underneath and watch. You cant put the shift tube in wrong can you? I'm a newbie for sure, but...- Nut Tree

Horn Problems
Swapped with a known good one and it doesn't change anything. When you pull the cover off the steering wheel there is a female plug with 3 small male pins inside. I tested each pin and non of them had any voltage with the key on or off.- Nut Tree

OK, now I'm at a loss. The fuse shows 12v in and 12v out with full continuity. I pulled the relay and tested it according to the included link and it tested good as well. No what? http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford_relay_tests/relay_bench_test_2.php- Nut Tree

Need help with gear selector please!
OK, I have something going on. I now have a nice tight (maybe too tight) shift lever. What I don't have is Park...still. I have every gear R through 1, but no Park. There isn't enough throw to take into Park I think. Is there an adjustment in the cable? I'm not sure how I could have screwed up...- Nut Tree

Ok, after the shift tube problem, I am back to the horn problem. Definitely not getting power to the column. There is no "horn" fuse in the interior fuse box and the box under the hood has no labels at all. I did have someone tell me their relay was behind the dash next to the glove box so I'm...- Nut Tree

Thanks for the replies, guys. You were all right. The two bolts at the end of the shift plunger were loose - one significantly. I tightened them and was able to get reverse about 50% of the time and picked up the munchkins on time. When I got home I dropped the column and instantly saw the...- Nut Tree

Need help with gear selector please!
Ok guys. The truck was having trouble going into Park. I would move the gear shifter all the way up and still be in reverse. Then the little orange indicator disappeared. Now it wont go into reverse. Washer fluid and Surge tank set up is not installed
Believe it or not, I'm in the exact same boat. I have the overflow tank, but no washer tank/pump and couldn't find a picture to show me what I am missing too.- Nut Tree

Ok, where do I find the relay? Also, no fuse positions in the dash fuse box are listed as being for the horn - first thing I checked :-) Lastly, I do not have cruise control if this helps.- Nut Tree
