DRW to SRW Pros cons discussion

Before you start down the conversion road you first need to determine what you have. Do you have a pickup? Or do you have a chassis/cab truck? You can determine this my measuring the width of the frame at the rear, a chassis cab will be 34 inches wide. The pickup frame will be wider. If you...

    Sterling 10.25 oil leak

If you are doing a complete rebuild, you could use the eliminator kit. But you will have to put it together and take it apart several times to get the pinion shimmed correctly. That is why the factory went with the crush sleeve. Tighten it down and go on the assembly line.

Some people have been getting the kits from rockauto. I see they have one on there for $232.79. It's a 12" perfection clutch. Warning, a lot of these aftermarket clutches are oversize. So your bottom cover will not fit without rubbing. Most people just leave the cover off. I have been...

    Sterling 10.25 oil leak

I have done this to several axles including these. Take the driveshaft loose, take the nut loose, replace the seal, and then re-install the nut. No crush sleeve needed. Getting the nut loose if it's not loose already can be a problem. The best way is with a large impact gun. If you are...

Diesels will cause noise in the drivetrain. They hit so hard when they fire, that they shake and rattle the transmission on through to the rear, especially at idle when there is no load on the drivetrain. That was the reason for the DMF. To dampen these vibrations when the diesel engine...

If the miss is consistent at idle, you can get the engine idling and then loosen the line on each injector one at a time. When you loosen it and it starts leaking, that cylinder should drop out. You may be able to use this to isolate which cylinder has the miss.

Solid vs Elastomer Harmonic Balancer- Which is Better?

A couple of the references on rockauto say "OE balancer solid". Maybe the stock balancer was solid.

    Exhaust on n/a

As long as you do not mess with the fueling, the EGT's should stay low. I think you will like the glasspack muffler. It will tone it down some. Just make sure you do not dump it out between the road and the body of the truck. If you bring the outlet beyond the body a little bit to the side...

    Injector line nut leak

Sometimes when replacing the return lines and bending the injection lines out of the way, the factory clamps will not fit on the factory lines, even though they did a few minutes before. Sometimes you have to force the issue and bend the lines so the clamps fit. If you are running without...

'90 7.3idi Harmonic Balancer Fit Years

Rockauto has 3 different ones? Only 2 are available though. It's a good place to get part numbers and do a google search to see if someone else has one also.

    Exhaust on n/a

N/A with no muffler is way too loud. Be a little considerate of other people in your neighborhood and community. Sorry if this makes you mad, but someone has to say it.

What years f250 idi diesels had limited slip?

Most are worn out by now. They work a little bit but not like they did when they were new. Get the axle code off the door jamb and we can determine from that if it came from the factory with a limited slip and also find out the ratio.
