Well, I was able to find a backup light harness at the salvage yard. It was from a t-19 but works just fine! Took the truck for a drive and found that my slave cylinder was leaking somehow. Bought a new slave cyl today, and instead of trying to bleed it top down, I followed the directions for...
Last night at 1pm I forgot to post the question, how do I hook up the reverse light switch? Where can I find a pigtail? I'm headed to the local salvage yard, but if that doesn't work, I'm stuck with the local parts shops. I haven't found a pigtail on the net anywhere. Then, which wires do I...
I found the jumper that you mentioned. Almost too easy. The only thing left is connecting the hydraulic line from the master to slave on the clutch, putting the dash back together, and the seats back in.
Next is a replacement IP and lines (those are going in to fix an oil leak on the IP...
Does the '85 have this same jumpered connection? What color wires should I be looking for? If I remove the neutral safety switch from the underside of the truck, what do I have to do with the plug? Thanx for all the help and encouragement, guys!
I have the trans tunnel that screws onto the floor from a zf5 truck. The floor clearance I'm talking about is just behind that tunnel all the way to the t-case u-joint. The u-joint on the t-case is a little less than .5" from the floor. seems pretty tight to me.
Maybe its time to get a body...
I found the zf5 is only about .5 inches longer than the C6. I was able to re-use my drive shafts. The master cylinder hunt is a great game. Like EMD Driver, all I could find was one that had offset mounting bolts. I made a pattern of the master cylinder mating surface and drew it on the...
Okay. I finally bit the bullet and cleaned out the garage enough to back my truck in. The C6 is out and the zf5 is in. Time to button up some loose ends.
The cross member doesn't exactly fit in the right place for the zf5. I want to take the CM out and drill new holes about 1" back from...
finally got my mounting nut patch installed. The 1/8" strap across the bottom is JB Welded to the housing, I have 3 machine screws with lock nuts on 2 planes of the housing, and as you can see the strap is bolted to both the remaining boss and the angle-iron patch that is also JB Welded to the...
Got my '85 for $500. the engine made a lot of noise once I got it started. Found out one of the lifters was busted, exhaust had to come out the intake valve after the cylinder fired.
My $500 truck towed all my earthly belongings from CA to WY and CO. I lost track of how much i put into...
Speaking of gear-shifting. . . . does anyone have an "extra" gear shift lever? My trans came w/out one. Didn't come across any today at the salvage yard. PM me if you have one to sell. thanx
Punk... where did the t-case shifter poke through? Did you have to cut a hole in the cover plate? The one I picked up today only has 1 hole, for the transmission shifter.
To the best of my knowledge, the 1345 and the 1365 t-cases use the same bolt pattern and mounting configuration. I am unsure if the output shaft on the transmission and the input shaft on the 1345 will be compatible, but I believe they are the same, too.
Got my pedal assy today. $6. God I love salvage yards! I also picked up a transmission tunnel cover from a '90 f250 with a gas zf5. Where will my transfer case shifter come into the cab, next to the tunnel or in it?
There is a very simple dyno computer on 4lo.com It is based on vehicle weight, 1/4 mile elapsed time or 1/4 mile speed. Just thinking that this would be a very simple way to track power differences. It seems fairly sensitive, as 1 second or 1mph will make a significant change. We might all...
No, I don't have the piece that broke off. Is the rear housing aluminum too? I thought with that much rust and corrosion that the rear housing was cast iron.
