    Compression test results-cold/hot engine

I recently had a friend come over to test run his new compression gauge on my Isuzu 4jg2, as I had 2 dead glow plugs so had to replace them anyway. The workshop manual specs are 440 psi hot, the lower limit is 340 psi before rebuilding is required. He decided to test the engine cold first, to...

    Does propane eat glow plugs?

I have had glow plugs erode away very quickly in the past, the tips had melted. No propane was used, only extra injection timing and fuel. My guess was much higher peak temps and pressure had done the damage. After going through a few sets in a matter of weeks I detuned the engine a bit and then...

    WMO burns hotter than diesel?

"Shift Indicators"!...I've never had a vehicle equipped with one, other than the sound of valvebounce echoing into the cabin LOL . There's a challenge for you, persist until the problem is solved! It seems that the designers have to give a vehicle a reasonable short lifespan to ensure...

    WMO burns hotter than diesel?

Wow, that's a lot of build-up, is the engine down on compression at all? Are you driving at low revs mostly or do you run up to high revs frequently?, a good run in the higher rev range helps to clean out the ring pack, I think that the g forces generated actually throw a lot of the gummy crap...

    WMO burns hotter than diesel?

I add 5-10% rug to my veg oil in the winter, this gives more power and helps the thicker oil to flow , yet engine temps rise as rug is blended into the mix. I won't go over 10% rug because I'm concerned about why the engine temp rises. As far as I understand the composition of rug, the lighter...

    WMO burns hotter than diesel?

That sounds like the most logical place to look. The burn rate of the oil probably has a bearing here, a slower burn generally leads to higher engine temps, just as retarding the injection timing can lead to overheating. Is the pump able to draw enough of the thicker oil to operate correctly?

    Dodgey online tool seller

Thanks for the heads up Aussiebrian, I did a google street view of the address and it is an industrial site, with 5 or 6(at least ) business's in it, so I'm not sure what to make of that! Here is the web address of the google street view site...

    WMO burns hotter than diesel?

I have had a diesel engine repeatedly overheat during normal running conditions, turned out to be retarded injection timing. I don't know how the Mercedes pump works, but I do know that the bosch style rotary pumps use fuel pressure to advance the injection timing at higher engine speeds, so the...

can I prevent coking with WMO?

While I'm passing on a few cheap but not nasty V.E. tips, (the tuned length aircleaner pipe with a bell mouth on the end situated in a high pressure area), there is another cheap mod that you guys might be interested in trying. The engine has to pump the exhaust gas through the turbo, and then...

can I prevent coking with WMO?

I ran a two tank system on a couple of previous vehicles that were burning w.c.o., 2 kilometres of driving was when I could change over from diesel to veg, the veg system wasn't quite up to temp after this distance, but the engine usually was and ran well enough. 2 kilometres (approx. 1.6 miles)...
