What is this turbo setup
It IS a rotomaster turbo set up from Turbo Engineering in Tacoma. I used one like it for years, then made another with a different flange for a modified Holset H1C. Good reliable products. 1978 f250 gas to diesel conversion.
I did this by using the stock motor mount towers from the 71, and cutting the tops off at the matching angle to the motor mounts bolted to the IDI block. Thats alotta questions! I can speak to some of them from truck chassis experience nut not a van chassis. Years ago, the C6 was all that was available, and as Franklin mentioned, a good tranny shop can install those E4OD parts in your C6 with a new converter to match your engine torque...- 71 Highboy

Correct. I remember considering one of those. But I have such good results with Lucas stabilizer over the years, I could not justify the cost. This system just prevents coking at the bearing as it caries heat away after shut down, just gravity fed. Same theory, no pump or power.- 71 Highboy

It was a complete kit when 6.9's first came out. The only one I've ever seen with a gravity oil reservoir to the turbo for cooling the bearings after shutdown.- 71 Highboy

Tenacity! I was only trying to point to the cavitation issue at the top. Long story is after 29 yrs the old 6.9 was acting like head gaskets failed. Replaced them while the 7.3 went in and out a few time to fix various leaks. I did not deck the block, so the gaskets failed cuz of erosion at the...- 71 Highboy

2 engines in and out 5 times each. Should not have counted, but I got good at by myself. I thought this was the last time for the original 6.9 to go back in after the machining on the block, but I was WRONG!! Lost Power- where to start
good info Bradd! I would have pulled it out as soon as the chunks fell out, instead of running it more. He's got bad symptoms going on. Regarding the 4th gear problem with a C6, I fixed that with a GV unit. In front of a remote 205. Just don't use it for slowing down, and always shift up or down...- 71 Highboy

#3 and #4 are both correct. It doesn't matter as long as you add the SCA which is readily available. My water filter from NAPA has it in it, adds as it passes thru and I add manually after testing with strips between filters. Buying 85 IDI ATS turbo motorhome!
It could be a sticky spool in the valve body. A good quality kit will allow manual shifting up or down at any REASONABLE speed, i.e. matching gear to road speed. I have not had a CDR for 30 years. a 3/4 hose connects the port in the valley to the intake at the compressor side. Total seal rings a couple years ago improved even more. No catch can, and very minimum blow by. You can see the hose here. It's about 3 1/2 feet long from the valley to the intake.- 71 Highboy
