I swapped to a ZF5 from a C6. Much quieter on the highway and better mileage overall 3-6 mpg extra. Wind noise gets worse and worse the faster you go but I need new door and window seals. I have 3.54 rear gears and just 2wd. 70-75 is a very comfortable cruise speed.
Recently I had the bearing lock up on my 3G swapped alternator which caused the pulley on the alternator to be loose and spin on the shaft which wore the center hole in the pulley quite a bit larger. Ended up buying a whole original 1g alternator just to get a new pulley as well as buying a new...
Ended up buying a whole alternator just to get the pulley. Only 45 bucks at least. If anyone needs an original 6.9 idi alternator I'll let it go real cheap
Needing an alternator pulley for 6.9 engine with 2 v-belt grooves. Need ASAP.
Part number on the pulley is E3TF-10A352-AA-
Alternator bearing went out and the center pulley hole got ground down and messed up.
Thanks for the advice. I did as you suggested and I ran a wire from the upper rag bolts to the lower bolts and now all my readings are way better! Had to remove the steering shaft to do so but at least I didn't have to pull the column and try tearing it apart. Having a replacement rag joint made...
I am working on getting the cruise control to work on my 84 f250.
I am currently going through the diagnostic part that has me measure resistance of the buttons. I am getting higher readings than called for by about 80-160 ohms. I believe I narrowed it down to the steering column grounding...
My 84 had the cruise control disabled when I got it. The previous owner had one side of the speedo cable go bad and replaced it with a single piece cable. I got the correct cables needed and installed them hoping the cruise would just work but unfortunaly it does not. I have been trying to go...
Hopefully this helps someone in the future. I appears as there are really only 2 sizes. The ones listed as 1/2 and 9/16 all have a center bushing hole spec of around .57" for whatever reason most brands call this 1/2 but some call it 9/16 which is actually more accurate.
I ordered Moog K8672...
It's one of the best for sure. I think electric fuel pump to eliminate the chance of a diaphragm blowing and dumping fuel in the oil and taking the engine out is the best upgrade... of course to run the electric pump requires more amps which leads to a 3g alternator upgrade!
Have 3 sizes to choose from on rockauto. 5/8 9/16 and 1/2. I figured I would just measure the outside of the threads on the part of the bolt that sticks thru the nut and I came up with 9/16 but just wanting to check that I am measuring correctly because there only is 1 available on rockauto...
My 83 is having issues going straight again. I had it jacked up and tried to wiggle test everything. The only thing I could find was where the I beam attaches to the knuckle the knuckle can "slide" up and down the kingpin maybe a few thousandth. There is no play as if the kingpin or bushings...
Since a lot of your suggestions come back to fuel supply issues I think I'll buy a gauge I can put on the valve on the fuel filter housing and see if it stays steady or drops. Then if I don't see any issues there I'll try cleaning the injectors with ATF or another treatment. I have no idea how...
As the title states I have intermittent weak power. Only notice it when towing on the highway. I am only towing 5000 lbs at the most. Probably closer to 4500. Most of the time I can tow at 70 mph no issue on the flat and mild grade hills. Obviously it slows down going up larger hills a little...
