Why a zf? Couldnt i use a t19 or similar? I dont know much about transmissions

Ya you could use a t19 bit of course it would have to be for a 351 but if you got a 302 you could also use a 300 inline 6 trans there the same bellhousing but zf5 would give you an extra gear

If i build it it will be a bare-bones mud truck, no lights, no radio, no speedo or tach, just driveline and body. The truck i would get the dana 60s from has a 351 with a standard in it i believe. Its a mid-late 70s f250 or 350

He ain't going fast. I'd take the 4 speed in something like that over the junk zf 5 any day.

SBF ZF has decent gearing...shifts quicker and smoother...no mechanical linkage ....slaves internal

Thiz was my theory for him.....

Well the guy sold the willys before i could get out to take a look at, so i guess that makes the decision about building it an easy one! Thanks to all who replied with info :)
