Yeah, put a loop back in.
The lift pump can leak externally, but can also leak into the oil pan.
And no, can't just tighten it. The line nut, yes.

You should put the loop back in the line, at the lift pump, to prevent ot from kinking.

Make sure the leak isn't coming from the weep hole on the lift pump. It's circled in red on the photo below. Most pumps have a weep hole on both sides. If it is coming out of there, the diaphragm on the lift pump is ruptured/torn and it "may" still operate, but you risk it dumping fuel in your oil.

the rubber fuel line can be routed any way you want. as long as its not kinked.
you will be pulling your hair out looking for air intrusion if it is.
learned this the hard way....
