What are the 6.2’s most common problems and their solutions?

This does sound like a problem not common enough to worry about. However, a lesson has been learned and I will make sure I use the correct bolts If I ever have a need to remove my flywheel.

I had a 6.2 do this and I made a front nose mount and also made an aluminum block that fit real snug between the starter and the pan and it went from sounding like a meat grinder to a perfect match and has been that way for over a year now. once a starter has messed up the flywheel your screwed, I always shim the starter using the correct gauge and utilize the nose bracket on these motors as well as BB chevy motors.

no. not yet.
the late model 6.5 starter has a warning cast into the nose housing stating "no shims".
On the 6.2/6.5 it is critical the support is used to secure the far end of the starter to the block. That keeps the nose from walking around and breaking.
