is it a 1356? make sure there isn't any play where the shaft goes into the case. the aluminum can get wobbled out right there and allow the shaft to move then it will get stuck in a gear or in nuetral

I'm not sure what transfer it is but it busted when I put it in low so I had to crawl under it to put it back in high and the transfer case shifted easily the problem is where it mounts on the tranny and is supposed to pivot

I got one of those.
they're still avail from the dealer but they're not cheap.
the engineer who deigned two dissimilar metals to pivot on each other with no lube really needs to be shot.

i think that is a common problem on the 1356. i saw a guy on ebay selling rewelded and reconditioned new ons. they looked good, and were extra braced to prevent it fromreoccurring in the future.

I got a buddy with a garage and even at his cost it was $216 otherwise it was $286. I thought if I could find one cheap enough I would get it but I got another friend that welds for a living so I may just pull it off and let him weld it or even build my own version out of steel

damn like 5 yrs ago they were only 150, and that was high.
had to put one on my other 96, when I did I put grease fitting on it.
