I am in the middle of restoring my 89 F250 non turbo 7.3 idi. Dropping the tranny and transfer case. Going to clean them up, reseal and paint. As far as I know, there are no issues with the transfer case, but I want to freshen it up and hopefully head off any future issues. The truck has been sitting up for several years. I am planning to at least do a seal and bearings refresh. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions/upgrades that would help prolong the life of the transfer case. This will be my first transfer case rebuild. All help appreciated.

Should be a 1356 transfer case; if so, these are quite simple to rebuild. I just went through one and put new seals and bearings in it. You should do the pump mod while you're in there -- that will keep the pump from rubbing a hole in the case and/or turning with the shaft and destroying itself.

There are a few YouTube videos and I'll be posting one on my disassembly and rebuild in a week.

Here's the thread I did on mine - https://www.oilburners.net/threads/borg-warner-1356-transfer-case-rebuild.92454/

Holler if you have any questions.
