My bearings looked worse than that, and the cam bearings were the worst (6.9 unbalanced cam). Ring and bearing kit from Napa was very reasonable, especially when you consider all the other money you've put into parts for these motors. If it specs out like mine did, hone it, replace those wear items, do whatever head work is needed, then run it like you stole it!

Well, and balancing it isn't a bad idea.

ok, its been a while since the update...

decided to build engine #2.
no i didnt rebearing it.
or re-ring...
just slapped parts together to complete it.

shell be a runner for now.
dont know how last the bearings will last, but this wont be driven much.
and a complete engine is better than a engine torn apart.

when it comes to taking the engine out of the dualie, im just gonna scrap the truck.
set parts aside for the next build, when i get to it.
who knows i may get a wild hair up my rear and decide to slap the military together.

so, the IDI gods hate me.

cracked open the 89's engine today after an hour of steam cleaning, and to my dismay, 3 head bolts broke off.
tops of pistons are melted.
but its a standard bore.

all 8 sticks were dry.
looks like im back to the drawing board.

everything else looked ok....

I wonder about that pyro, I saw maybe 1250-1300 max on our joyride.
The 1800 deg gauge is a little tough to read on the lower dash.
It should be interesting to see if the headers pull any heat off the heads.
Drag about the eng.
Carry on.

so the plan now is to buy new pistons for the first block, and have them ceramic coated....
since that block is in the best shape out of the 3.
even with cracked pistons.
figure the coating will help with the spike on the EGT's

yea i did see a max of 1300, im hoping the new turbo will bring em down.
im not running headers on this build, yet...

if the 093 does not bring down the EGT's i will be doing a different turbo.
but i think the WW2 and the Russbuild will bring down the temps.

first things first, new slugs and get this damn thing together....

todays list is new pass side inner fender.

all of these damn parts i have are really starting to get to me...
not 1 decent lowerend in my arsenal.
going to rebuild block #3 in the mean time.

so, im going to do some unorthodox wrenching to get the engine for the 87 back together and running.
i will be using lowerend #1, an 030 over 7.3 with hairline cracks on the crown of the pistons.
looking at it this morning, the cracks do not run into the cups of the pistons.
im wondering if these pistons were like this from the start.

the heads i already have done will be used since they are already freshened up.

i really need to get this rig running, without spending a ton more money.
when the new rebuild is done, ill do an engine swap.
