I ran the stock water separator on my IDI, but I can tell you that if you are looking for an aftermarket piece, Racor has a great name built in the marine industry for taking water out of fuel.

I've read a lot of good things about Racor. I figured several members would be running them...wondered what model and so forth.
I also thought I'd learn something about different brands / set ups.

I run a Racor 445 with a 30 micron filter as a primary filter into a electric pump then thru the stock 6.9 filter. No problems so far.

According to the tech article on this board, I should be able to use the same mounting studs as the OE separator. We shall see!
