Rebuilding the leak prone Factory fuel/water separator

This factory Fire wall mounted leak prone fuel/water separator has been beat to death.
I came across this old thread by Mel (Conastoga Diesel) on rebuilding it.
It`s an old thread and the pictures are gone, but good info, for you that want your truck all original with matching numbers etc...

I had seen that the other day and plan to give it a try on mine. But I will also have a Racor ready to replace it if the rebuild doesn't go well.

I used his guide to do mine as I pulled the pin and it stopped all fuel flow works good as “new” I have a 7.3 filter head and new filter I got for 7$ I’ve just have been too lazy

Just finished, do the 7.3 filter heads flow more? I got alot more fuel sitting out via the shreader than the 6.9 head
